My buddy and I did some brewing Saturday. Was a good day for it. Amazing that we could be outside brewing after the cold we got.

    Good morning gentlemen-

I would like to make an announcement. A monumental document was signed last evening The W.O.P.R Accord

Parties from both PA and the FIBs held closed door sessions / discussions over the weekend. BOTH sides raised great points of interest and concern. I may be the only one old enough to remember it, but there was great wisdom to be found in 1983............form the movie War Games

Let me start by saying this WAR has been a blast and I have enjoyed it tremendously! Let it be known across all the land that PA (and this guy in particular) loves the FIBS. @PA-Michigander started this whole idea by saying that he wanted to send out a NINJA box to a FIB whom he thought was a great guy with a great attitude. I indicated that I wanted to be part of it and wondered if we could do it in a manner to see if we could ninja some people and NOT get anything back in return. Well the PA / FIB was born.

Beside sending a crap ton of beer to great guys who I believe truly get what BA and SWTFYW is all about, I think we have livened the thread up for a bit and most importantly showed that being a true Beer Advocate is not always all about ticking or hoarding or trying to win a trade.

@PA-Michigander and I have been talking and I we have talked with several FIBS as well. We all think it is time to put a stop to the war in a manner where both sides come out winners. That Wisdom is found in the line "A strange game. The only winning move is not to play"

The war could continue with each side trying to one up each other again and again. But there is a danger in that. One ...people could join for the wrong reasons and hope that they will get whales or a porch Bomb not in proportion to what they sent out. Two.......It will also become MUCH more of a financial burden on people and we in no way want that to happen.

The war was tremendous fun. Doing it, the avatar changes, secret plan pics, smack talking and other banter has been one of the more fun things I can remember. I think a greater portion of BA became aware of it than we knew. We think we have achieved the some of the goals we had during this thing. But we also think the time is ripe for the W.O.P.R Accord to end it.

I have sent out a ton more beer than I got and I like it that way! Better to give than receive. Now we all think that random porch Bombs will continue....but there is now peace between PA and the FIBS.

I can't wait to shake the FIBS hands!

    I wish!

We have some of our shares at the tasting room of the Brew Hub in Lakeland, FL. Neat idea by some of the AB guys that left after InBev bought them. They build a few moderately sized breweries, with tons of cold storage, packaging lines, warehousing space, etc. They are also a distributor. Small craft breweries that have gotten too big for there own space or brewhouse can come and brew at the Brew Hub. Brew Hub gets a part of the profit, little brewery gets to grow its business. Similar to contract brewing, but the craft brewer has as much control over the process as he wants. He can bring his own people in to brew, he can let Brew Hub brewmasters make his beer to his specs, he can even remote in on a computer or iPad and brew himself, the whole brewhouse is automated. They do brew some of their own beers, but currently are brewing and canning a ton of Cigar City core beers. They also brew for OBP, Green Man, and a few others. They just signed on with a couple of other BIG name craft breweries, I can't name any names, but I will soon have some very high wants on tap at my favorite local watering hole.

This is an incredible business concept. Great way to help small guys grow without their needing the upfront investment or increase in overhead, and I'm sure especially from the bigger breweries it's very profitable. And from the consumer side it's obviously a win as well since it gets you more locally made options. The automation of it is also pretty incredible.

Besides the high-tech nature of it, and its scale, it reminds me of a similar concept being done in Germany with a community owned shared brewing space. Article was in Draft (or maybe All About Beer) a while back; I'll see if I can find a link.

One box is out the door to land on an unsuspecting victim tomorrow. The other three have to travel farther so they will go out after Thanksgiving.
