Haven't tried this one, but my favorite so far is 101.

106 is okay. It's kind of like watery chocolate frosting.

It's not bad, a little thin, but nice flavors. Worth picking up a 6er.

Also if you read the back of the bottle i think they used Coca Cola soda in there.

Wow, you weren't kidding. Exactly like cake! This is pretty good!

As everyone can tell, that was a few days ago. I just cracked a new one. Seems the half life is a couple of days. It's much more bitter now, and the "cake" flavor is running away. FYI, it's been in my fridge, so the decay wasn't temp related.

Granted, I live in Austin, so I may have had really fresh bottles to start with. FYI

I thought it was really nice. Tastes like chocolate cake.

Yep, this deteriorated very quickly. The day I bought it (in Austin, TX), it tasted exactly like cake. Then the bitterness of the chocolate started to predominate. Today, it's virtually undrinkable.

I have a hard time believing that a single beer deteriorates, literally, within days. I know everyone is all on the bottle date freshness chain, but really, a beer is not "like cake" one day and "bitter" the next. People are just becoming more familiar with that particular beer. If you concentrate on one six pack, nuances can come out with more familiarity of that one beer. Some you might notice more, some you might notice less than when you first had it.

I can't see myself ever buying a six pack of this, and saying that, I have never tried it, I can still reasonably say, this is not magically becoming "less cake like" with each passing day.

Sounds like a challenge to me. I've got a few bottles left!

Agreed, 101 was/is good. I've seen it around still a few times in some of those family reunion packs. Wild Hare is my favorite Shiner beer. We all know Shiner isn't really appealing to the beer nerds though.

I just had a 106, fittingly while celebrating a birthday. It was like drinking the cake - thankfully without all that sweetness. Not my favorite Shiner, but it is good for one bottle.

Drinking one right now. Smells amazing; just like chocolate cake. Tastes rather like chocolate cake too but there's a little blandness I feel like; could be a bit more flavorful in my opinion. Still worth buying a single though

It definitely could be better, but I think it's pretty darn good for a Shiner beer. It amazes me how they pulled off the chocolate cake taste.

Had a pint of this while at the Gingerman Share yesterday. Finally got to try it and glad I did.

It's like chocolate cake in a glass.

picked up a 6er over the weekend and I thought it was pretty good; like everyone else, it does taste like chocolate cake. It's worth trying.
