so I have a way to get a few cases of BCBCS 2014 in a month or two. The 2014 of course. I'd love to use this to acquire some fantastic beers via trading but will the interest be gone? I don't want to waste $350 and people no longer want it because it's not a fresh BA coffee beer anymore. Any thoughts?

    Booo.

I'm loathe to see beer as a commodity. If you would drink a few cases yourself, go ahead, and then if some trades line up, great. But let's not start issuing beer trade futures.

I personally think BCBCS with about 7 months on it is it's peak and tastes phenomenal. There will definitely be people still looking for it in a couple month. That said there nothing wrong with trading a couple 4 packs, but don't hoard it with the intention of capitalizing on it. Get it because you want to drink most of it.

People still trade 2010 coffee bombers and they're not giving them away by any means. I think you'll definitely get takers and you'll definitely score solid beers in trade. I wouldn't expect to go crazy with it but you won't lose money on it. Good luck!

It's the #2 rated beer on this site and not easy to get in any kinda volume. If you can get it you'll move every bottle you choose too, you won't eat a thing. And you'll have plenty for you too, hell I'd do it if I could.

This post makes me sad... And only partially because of my own jealousy.

This post is sad in that
    1. It gives traction to all those who think Prop sits here and is abundant when they hear of hoarding cases like this just to FIB (which this case sounds like - FIB gauging value to make sure they win).
    2. It encourages people to hoard/mule for the sake of trading and not drinking.

OP may be a generous BA but it just seems odd to say I want to make sure the great beer in mass quantity I have a chance to buy is still valuable to others before I "waste" money just in case I can't trade it.

Just my two cents - back to drinking my Penrose "shelf turd"

    Cheers!

Now I understand why I couldn't find any Coffee this year! People are majestically grabbing it by the case.

OP, I'd do it, you'll be able to trade some of it out for some great beers, plus you'll have as much as you can drink!

In my experience, no matter how strong of a possibility, I would never count on getting cases of BCBCS until they are right in front of you. In other words, don't pre-trade if you're getting offers behind the scene right now.

BCBCS ages very gracefully and there's no "wrong" time to drink it and it trades well, even the 2010 bombers as someone has already mentioned. I'd grab a case, drink and age 1/2 case throughout the year and next. Trade the other 1/2 case. Leave the 2nd case for someone else.

OP in no way hints that he's trying to maximize value or win any trades. He simply wants to use BCBCS to get some "fantastic" beers that he may not otherwise have the means to obtain. He also doesn't sound like he's going to hoard it - that means he would be keeping it to himself - but he sounds like he's planning to get it out there. All perfectly legit if you ask me and it seems like there will be more BCBCS spread around because of OP. Nothing wrong with that as a first post in a trading forum. Carry on

Do you mean buying a beer just to trade it?

Is it any different than people getting Ann or Kiwi Herman ( or for that matter, multiples) with the sole intention of trading it, rather than drinking it. Or possibly drinking some and trading some. If that's the case, then we are all donkeys.

I see you have 20 logged trades. The beers you traded away - did you buy any of those?

@rabbott2 - I'll gladly trade you for some BCBCS, as much as you want to part with. It's my favorite BCBS variant, every single year.

You'll still ship first though
