Southern Star Le Mort vivant, Founder's Black Rye & now on to a Sam Adams Rebel Rouser . The kids liked Katy, the dirty old man was hoping for more skin... I know, know. I don't expect much from the half time show any more. Since they wouldn't let the chill peppers play live, it kind of has the legitimacy of a North Korean TV production. Loved the Mexican Avocado commercial...

 

Good beer...

 

No pics. Local watering hole tapped Hopslam and Maharaja today so I headed over there for a bit. Back home now enjoying Nugget Nectar and Missy Elliott.

My 2nd Half beer, Sixpoint Hi-Res

 

I might like this more than their Kansas cover.

 

I just had this for the first time today. Awesome!

 

Having my first homebrew that was bottled last week. Still not fully conditioned and carbonated, but I had to check on the progress. It's an American Pale Ale.

 

Finally breaking out the big guns for the second half, bottled Nov 2014.

 

Made with bourbon barrel aged coffee beans...interesting flavor. A lot of coffee without the coffee bitterness.

 

Aleworks Jubilee VIII, "ale aged in rum barrels." No other description given. Into a snifter. Brings to mind Cuvee Van de Kaizer Blue, Boulevard Sixth Glass and Ovila Abbey Quad, but with rum underneath everything. Grapes, figs, apples and candi sugar. Bit of plum and date, the first especially after it warms a bit.

I don't know if this is supposed to be a quad/Belgian strong dark ale but it's a dead ringer for one. Very impressive considering it's American. Good use of rum barrels here, really works well.

Why on Earth hasn't La Trappe done a batch of their oak-aged quad in rum barrels??
