    Doing a blind 2013/2014 tasting of Expedition. So far, 2013 has stronger molasses smell, slightly smoother, but we're split as to which one tastes best.

    This is a tough one but one factor I like to include is "Is this beer worth saving for a year? Is it that much better than the current version?" If one has a cellar and forgets about it, it may be nice. But most seem to have a finite fridge space for some "aging". One cannot look at a bottle every week and build up anticipation for that one day 300 days away.. Just something to think about as you go back and forth. For me, I have been lucky and some stores still have older bottles, so if anything I catch a slight age advantage and just have to wait a couple months for that yearly side by side. Time is just so frickin' precious, it rarely seems like a factor in vertical tastings.

    Ha! And did I mention these growlers contained pasteurized beer? :astonished: We had just attended the same beer tour where the brewer stated the majority of their beer is pasteurized and will only degrade with age.:rolling_eyes:
