Just a rant that we need more beers available in 4-pks! (12oz)

To me 4-pks are just the best/easiest/smartest way to buy/drink beer! (IMO)

Especially of the barrel aged variety...

I'd rather more reasonably prices 6 and 12 packs. 4 packs are the new standard to get you to pay more for less. Next up: Beer K-cups.

as long as it's a move from 22 oz, 24oz, and 750ml to 4 packs, rather then 6 packs to 4 packs (green flash for shame).

I totally see where your coming from, but that doesnt mean a 4-pk cant be reasonably/accordingly priced.

Compared to other 4 packs/bombers. A new standard had been created and you are buying in lock, stock, and barrel.

I get that this is the new direction. It doesn't mean I have to happy about it.

I'll take 4-packs if they weren't, which is a big IF, less value than 6-packs. Like Rekrule said, 4-packs are just a manipulation of paying more for less, not as bad as bombers, but still the case. How about a slight markup, rather than rapping for either 4-packs or bombers. I like the idea of 4-packs, getting greater varieties, example getting 3 different beers (3x 4-packs) vs. 2 different beers (2x 6-packs) and so on, just not the price.

Your wrong, see, having 6 beers is better than having 4.
    It's basic math/science.

Yeah I went on a rant in another thread on this same subject.

I don't get why these strong, rich ales are so frequently found in 22oz or larger bottles.

It really limits how many I buy. Not only because a bomber is more expensive, actually it's mostly because I won't/can't finish a bomber of strong ale by myself. Right now I have a ton of beer I need to share to drink, and it gets drunk but not as quickly.

I'd especially buy more DIPAs if they weren't so frequently found in bombers. They should be drunk fresh so it's hard to buy them to share later.

I mean really, most people aren't down to drink 22oz of imperial stout. For me, the first 4-8 oz are good (depending on how good the stout is) but after that it's just overbearing. And that goes double for a bitter, abrasive IPA. My palate just can't handle a full bomber to the dome.

I don't really need 4 packs, I'd rather just buy individual 12oz. If all craft beer came in 12oz bottles, I'd buy and drink a looooot more of it.

22~25oz only of high gravity beer is an unfortunate aberration. only time will tell if breweries decide to switch to formats that make more sense (e.g. sierra nevada, anchor, rogue's barleywines... "coincidentally" all small format).

And all, not coincidentally, beers I've tried! Except I've only seen Rogue in 22oz bottles here, but replace Rogue with, say, Lagunitas.

heh, if gnarlywine were 12oz, i'd drink more of it...

edit: p.s. anchor and SN's barleywines are better than rogue's anyway. just included the latter to note that the old school breweries already got it right (also DFH olde school--which is similar to rogue's barleywine in that it requires aging).

Kind of a bummer that SN Bigfoot is going from a 6 pack to a 4 pack next year. I love that stuff. Kind of a bummer.

Not sure if it varies from state to state, but beers sold in four-packs are due to higher abv's...and paying $9.99 for a 4pack is tough to justify.

Ive been wondering why Flying Dog Double Dog recently went the opposite direction from 4 packs to 6 packs. Unfortunately the price per oz went up as well. That was the only thing that beer had going for it.

Four packs are more manageable than 6-packs I suppose. I am fortunate to have a few beer stores in my area that allow me to mix and match singles.
