You obviously have an axe to grind. That's fine. The most unprofessional thing you can do in my estimation is to walk off a job without giving any notice when you are in a position where lots of people depend on the work you are doing. It doesn't matter the scenario or how bad it is, you suck it up put in your notice and communicate to the people taking over your responsibilities what's going on with the projects you are working on.

Do we know for a fact that's what happened? That's certainly what it seems like, but I haven't seen anything but rumor to this point. I'd also buy that he was fired, as it seems like there's definite animosity.

I've been told that was the case by two employees who had no reason to lie to me about it. Take that for what it's worth.

What if Mike is in on the whole thing and this is the best viral marketing campaign ever?

I was thinking about that last night. On April 1st, they both have a press conference and say "Gotcha!".

All I'm trying to say is that there are two sides to every story. I absolutely agree with your points here. Mike didn't leave in the most admirable way. However, I find it hard to believe he just woke up one morning and didn't show up to work. There was most likely something or a series of events which lead to him leaving.

EDIT: I guess the same could be said about TG pulling out of EBF for "production" reasons while loading up their van to head to Huna Day though.

What's so surprising that they can only keep 1 commitment due to production issues? If you have enough for 1 and not 2 should you cancel both? Losing personnel that were paramount to meeting that demand is an emergency situation, canceling for that reason sucks for those attending but it's reasonable for sure.

I'd have to agree with this. I've had a few interactions with Clark, and he's always been extremely courteous, willing to go out of his way to share beer, and accessible, especially considering his schedule. On the other hand, unless you can say with certainty that someone is an a-hole, maybe it's better not to say anything at all. These threads seem to turn into full-on witch hunts sometimes. As far as the tweet goes, are we certain who pushed it out? Seems like a bit of jumping to conclusions and attack mode going on. TG is my favorite brewery and I'm sure they'll work this out, every company has turnover and drama at times but that doesn't mean the sky is falling by any means. Let's let cool heads prevail.

Boston in March or Tampa in March? Beer aside, I know which one I'm choosing.

I was at the taproom the other day and the person sitting next to me was Mike's brother. He was enjoying TG beer still, so part of me thinks if there were truly bad blood, that would not have been the case. He just said Mike wants to work at a place where is makes all/most of the decisions, preferably a start u. Let's face it, there is often some level of conflict between head brewer an active owner as there is between head chef and owner. Both want it to be their vision. I wish all parties involved the best.

The last time I was at TG taproom and spoke with Mike (last September), he indicated he had very little input in the decision making and that was a definite frustrating point to him you could tell.

I don't think he'd need to be too worried about financing to get a new place started. Worst case scenario he could crowd fund it online selling perks/exclusives. I'm excited to see what he does; the guy made great beer at TG

Great brewer != great businessperson. Both are needed for a successful brewery.

So....what does everyone think of the latest batch of Sue?

I've only had a handful of batches of Sue, but the last batch (mid Feb?) was my personal favorite. This latest batch is a small step back IMO. It looks a lot hazier than previous batches, almost milky. Oddly under-carbonated, head retention is poor. Nose is on point, and tastes great, with the hop characteristics from the last batch I liked so much being just a little more subtle this time around. Still a solid beer, no doubt.

I enjoy reading the TG hysteria threads as much as the next guy/gal. TG seems to really get people going, that's for sure... Some say they are screwed without Mike, others say they'll be just fine. I think they have a little bit of work to do, maybe some small tweaks to this latest batch of Sue, but I think they're going to be fine...they certainly aren't hurting for business.
