Love that you did them side-by-side (or immediately after each other) ... what'd you think of the comparison?

 

Hint 1: I am shipping West
Hint 2: My target is not the only one from their state on the list of targets.
Hint 3: My target has more wants than me.
Hint 4: My target is in a different time zone.
Hint 5: My target state's professional football team has a higher (current) playoff berth streak than my state's team.
Hint 6: My target has over 60 more trades than I do!

There was a nice bourbon sweetness in the Black Crack but honestly I liked the base better. I'm a big fan our BB stuff so that's a rare occurrence for sure.

 

That is awesome that you said that. I felt the same way when I drank these next to each other courtesy of @rspauldi I liked the barrel aged version but really enjoyed everything the base had to offer. That seldom happens where I enjoy the base more. Like that we're on the same page.

 

I liked the BB better than the base, but more interestingly I thought they were far more different one to the other than I expected.

 

Most amazing thing happened at EBF. Standing in line in the snow waiting to get in, talked to a young couple for an hour. Saw them over and over inside, and then finally introduced ourselves. Turns out I was talking to @chibeerguy1381 for almost two hours before I new it was him. Why is that important, he was my target in last years Stout BIF!!! And, even more important, he is still holding the BB Guinness, can number 1. Small world, and great to get to meet you Lars and Kathy.

 

That's pretty awesome. Similar thing happened with @SirPutzly and I at a bottle release, only it didn't come up that we knew each other on BA until after the fact.

Also, ISO BB Guinness!

 

Well I don't think my target has me in his sights. However, I do have at least 10 wants for him so far. Will probably ship out at the end of this month.

1) Central Waters Stout Brewers Reserve - BA Central Waters, Want!
2) KBS 14 and 15! Never too late to start a KBS Vertical. Want!
3) BBPT5!!!! Probably the beer I have been wanting more than anything! after trying PT5 I wanted to know what it tasted like in barrels.
4) BA Dystopia - Can try the base and the BA version of the same beer!
5) Delusion - Dont know much about this beer but love me some cream stouts in rye!

Aww it makes me sad that I crossed you off with that "target's username starts with one of the first 10 letters of the alphabet" clue.

 

what year black crack? The 14 bottles are very blended down. 13 is good but the best is 12 which is all barrel. That being said buried hatchet alone is better overall and they've started doing kegs with coffee beans

 

It was 2014, my Houston trip happened to coincide with the release. I would love to try it on coffee, that sounds great.

 

I actually got both of these beers in the last Stout BIF and thought the exact same thing when I did my side-by-side. I actually had to double-check what I was drinking because I usually prefer BB stuff to base.

 

Cheers Jason, I really hope you enjoy everything in there. Tried to get a nice mix of wants and new locals you haven't had but need to try. FYI, don't sit on that 4 Hands Bona Fide, it's much better fresh imho. Everything else for the most part I've had with age and was just fine.

 

I'll definitely have to look for that coffee version when I'm in Houston at the end of May.

 

Did someone lock Mipper up in a closet??? Where you at brother. "E.T. phone home"

Side note: there has been some great boxes of liquid goodies being passed along. Looks like I may just have to get in the next round.

 

HA! I heard all of the headaches my clues gave and i thought it was best to lay low and hope the posse forgets about me......

That and work got crazy............
