Late Night Beer Advocate 7/11

Was shocked to see Gandhi Bot in my go-to shop today. I didn't think it made it up my way. Anyway, I have never had it so I snatched it up.

And might I add....this beer is absolutely awesome! Phenomenal brew!

this is simply just an excellent beer. nothing mind blowing, but what is not to love about this beer? I am picking up a 6 this weekend for sure. great hop profile aromas and flavors and drinks so damn easily.


Overall pretty nice stuff. Certainly unique from the Style point of view, but overall this is quite enjoyable and extremely easy to drink. Needed more carbonation and spicy esters though.


Digging into this now. WOOOT. I love when you open a beer and you know it will kick serious ass by the smell. god damn complex man. Impressive head retention for a barleywine. WOWWWWW. Bottled 7/12/10. Exactly 2 years old


I will officially be going to seek out Devin tickets after seeing this video. This is more epic sounding than anything anyone else told you was epic. deal with it. goosebumps all over the map here.

 

It's amazing. Much more tart (in a great way) than previous Arthur batches. One of Shaun's favorites as well. I wish it hadn't been a 1 bottle limit.

 

Went away for a few days with the family and threw back some tasties. First night we drank a growler of Brooklyn's Sorachi Ace, a bottle of Abacus (which is drinking AMAZING), and then ended with a bottle of 2010 Juliet.

Last night we hit up a growler of DFH's 90 Minute IPA, bottle of Ommegang's Barrel Aged Adoration Ale, and a bottle of Sang Noir.




As my "vacation" draws to a close, had a Hoptimum with dinner...


...then had a can of Heady Topper...



...and now onto some goodness from Central Waters. First with the Barrel Aged Stout and if I can pull through we'll hit the Barrel Aged Barleywine.

Well, my sixer of Sam Adams is gone. A few moments later my boss knocks on my hotel room door. I open the door and he hands me a half full/empty bottle of Maker's Mark and said not to wake up early tomorrow. He looked pretty crossed eyed, stumbly drunk. I guess shit just got real for me, even though I'm not a hard liquor guy. Off to the vending machine for a bottle of Coke...

 

So... I was all prepared to give you the official RochesterAaron ranking of Double IPAs consumed in the last week as follows: HF Double Citra > Heady Topper > Ruination 10th Anniversary >= HF Nor but...

Honestly after drinking them back to back, Ruination 10 and Heady are drastically different. If I didn't know better I would be hard pressed to even classify them as the same style of beer. You can't compare them. They're both delicious in their own right. Also all of these double IPA's (and the dubbel that preceded them) are making me tipsy. I love beer in all its delicious forms.

 

Enjoying another good Jacks Abby brew. Fresh good and local = very nice.
