I will give a fairly new guy on the youtube scene a plug. Darwins beer reviews is one of my go to's. He does a lot of new and exciting beers.

I like to drink a beer and pull up a youtube review of the same beer while enjoying it. See how the notes compare and contrast.

"What? No, of course I don't have any friends."

Same reason why I started watching reviews. To get better at describing beers, I would drink a beer, write a review, and compare it to what YouTube reviewers would have to say about it.

Not only that, I like following someone's palate I agree with and trust compared to relying strictly on the masses on BeerAdvocate (which I still do a good amount of the time anyway).

    Beer Geek Nation
Better Beer Authority, original crew (love their bluntness)
JoeD (just the absolute funniest and chillest guy out there)
BeerExpedition??? (The guy's name is Norm, his channel was deleted for some reason, he still collaborates with JoeD though)

I peruse other channels but the ones above I mainly watch

My wife tolerates my beer geekery and actually likes hanging out with my beer friends. But I can't imagine the shit she'd give me if I went into the office alone with a beer to watch a stranger drink a beer.

Nah, I often watch other peoples' reviews after I've already had the beer, to see what their opinions are, and if they had similar thoughts as me.

Louisiana Beer Review is an interesting site. Jay is very thorough and even-handed, scoring a beer by it's style. He likes to talk about world history and a beer's history. His style is laid back, but rarely boring.

Darwin's Beer Reviews are the best. I'll check out Greg for a beer I want to try every now and then but you have to skip forward until he finally gets to the review.
Being from the same area as Darwin a lot of times he is having the same beer that I am because it just hit the area. Although, for selfish reasons I wish @dar482 would review more local stuff. But I guess there is only so much beer one man can drink. :wink:Keep it up Darwin! Great job.

Thanks a lot. Thanks to this thread, and after never watching a beer review (and never intending to) I spent an afternoon (when I should have been doing other things) watching Greg on Youtube. I liked him, he just so enjoys his brewskis; it's a pleasure to watch.

Its funny, I actually started watching reviews to see if the super hyped beers that I couldn't get were really "worth" trying to trade for. Weird, right?

I'm not big on writing reviews, so I stared doing YT reviews just cause its easier to put the camera on for a few minutes and talk to myself, ha.

I dabble in a few that have already been mentioned plenty. I like watching Greg's Beer Reviews because he is approachable, knowledgeable, and comfortable in front of the camera. He can tend to get long-winded - some of his videos can creep up toward 20 minutes - but that's the beauty of the internet ... scroll ahead to when he starts to pour the damn beer if you wanna skip the description and food pairings and such. It's not a live show, you can control what you watch and don't watch. I think he does an excellent job at what he does, and he's made a conscious effort to reduce his review lengths to about 10 minutes as of late.

I have also watched Beer Geek Nation quite a bit and I think Chris too does a good job. He's also knowledgeable and passionate about beer and it definitely shows. His videos tend to run shorter than Greg's - mostly in the 5 minute range.

And I recently subscribed to Darwin's page. I like his videos as well. His videos tend to run the shortest of the lot and I think it's mostly due to the fact that he speaks really, really fast sometimes. He has a good knowledge of beer and he seems to have a good palate so I enjoy his takes.

And lastly, to those who have made it a point to come on this thread only to say something to the effect of "I don't watch beer reviews" ... Great. Congratulations. Thank you for that insight. Some of us do. Let us discuss it without interjecting your useless opinion. You can save yourself the time later by reading the title of the thread, realizing it doesn't apply to you, and moving on. If I see a thread titled "What's Your Favorite Saison?" I don't spend my time to click on it and reply "I don't drink saisons." That's lunacy. Same concept here, guys.

I'm always open to suggestions. You can reach out to me on BeerAdvocate, YouTube (comments or messaging), Facebook, etc.

Thanks a lot for watching, fellow local beer geek!

My wife and I have done some YouTube videos over at Two Kyles on Craft Beer. With very few exceptions, the beers we review are ones we've never tasted before so you get our actual first reactions and see us develop our opinions as we go.
Okay, self promotion over. As you were.
