So if you read the line, close the post immediately and flush your eyes with water.

All beer tastes better in a big ole Stein. Long as it doesn't cost more to fill it... :grinning:

I only specify when I use my Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glasses, because they deviate quite a bit from a typical pint glass. Otherwise it's just a snifter, pilsner, etc.

I think it adds texture to the review. It gives the reader a visual what the reviewer is looking at.

Proper glassware matters. It tastes better if it's from the brewery itself.

Personally, I always enjoy my Torpedo out of my Wilma glass. If I can locate Barney, I'll have the full set...

People just do it to sound cool. But some breweries have their own unique glassware. Correct me if I'm wrong but I've never seen this from anyone else.

I agree there is no harm in mentioning branding, but it doesn't really help identify which glass was used other than the brand on the glass. For example, someone says they used a Duvel tulip. I have seen two different sizes. Many brewers have glasses of the same shape in multiple sizes. I have two identically shaped New Belgium glasses. One is etched in the bottom, and one is not. Changes in glass thickness or switching to a slightly different glass of the same type also happen.

As with everything it matters to certain people. Riedel has long been known to the wine world as the premier maker of wine glasses. I own 2 or 3 and tote them with me when me and my wife go to BYOB restaurants. There are tons of people that have reviewed them and written on their experiences (http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/wines_world/2002/08/glass_sipper.2.html). I am pretty sure the same goes for beer. Someone one day will determine if there is a market for it and go to the effort of spending some serious time and money to do the same for beer.

The other thing that is great about brewery specific glassware is that it's also a great way to show your support for the brewery in a different way.

I actually prefer glasses that don't have any writing on them ideally, but that's not of course how it's done with at brewery glassware.

Lots of US places have taken the effort to match a glass to their beers, and some of course use I think one that's common as I've seen similar or identical shapes for certain glassware for breweries.

Let's of course not forget the Belgian example which in my opinion got it all started here Stateside as every brewery seems to have a unique shaped glass for their beers... and sometimes more than one

I keep telling myself I don't need more... but they creep in once in awhile

They're pretty close but I think the MT one tapers off a bit more and then widens more at the top. Also a bit taller and thinner stem, but those are both splitting hairs.
