Nightcapping with a '13 KBS. Booze and coffee are long gone, only chocolate remains. Definitely prefer it fresher.

It's Wisconsin Pale Ale night. New Glarus Moon Man vs. Ale Asylum Hopalicious. And the winner is...

I can't decide. I need to increase my sample size to generate more statistical power.

Homebrew club tonight. Filled some growlers that everyone loved and a few other bottled beers. Need to kick a couple kegs. New IPA and Porter to be brewed soon. Had plenty of different styles tonight.

    New reviews:

Very tasty Irish red ale. Great appearance and dense lacing on this one, quite fresh for an import as well. Aromas and flavors of caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, plum, pear, apple, herbal, grass, light nuttiness and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/grassy hop bitterness on the finish. Very well balanced malt, hop, and fruity yeast flavors; with a good balance of bitterness. Very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel. Very robust flavors for 4.5%. Really good and spot on for the style. One of the better examples of the style I've had honestly. I'd put this on par with Sam Adams and Great Lakes versions. Really underrated, but these kinds of styles are generally that way, so whatever.

Pretty good. Head retention was horrible. English vibe for sure in style. Aromas and flavors of milk chocolate, cocoa, molasses, caramel, toffee, toast, dark bread, raisin, plum, herbal hops and yeast earthiness. Minimal roast/herbal bitterness on the finish. Balanced roast malt, toffee, and fruity yeast flavors. Nicely robust and smooth. Lighter carbonation; moderate creaminess, slightly slick. Overall quite tasty, but not really what I'd expect in a stout. Feels closer to a darker brown ale or something with the strong toffee/bready notes. Definite English yeast influence across the board.

Very nice IPA. Aromas and flavors of bright grapefruit, tangerine, citrus rind, pineapple, pine, with herbal/grassy earthy hops and a touch of toasted bread malt presence. Nice sized pine/grassy bitter finish. Very hop forward with not too much malt presence; but no cloying bitterness. Smooth, crisp, and sticky hop finish. Unique balance of earthy and citrus hops with lighter tropical vibes. Very drinkable. Another one of those pine lover IPAs overall. Nice.
