Since folks asked about the results of the taste test. We all agreed that SMS actually got the slight edge over KBS

I really like this IPA, but it never seems to be particularly fresh around here...

Found these bottles at my local Fairway, dated 02/23/15 - I'll take 'em! :stuck_out_tongue:

    Titan IPA

Had a mortadella sandwich on thin-sliced ciabatta for starters; now snacking on...
    [IMG] [IMG]
Crunchy rings seasoned with salt and fennel; absolutely perfect with beer...

They'd also go great with a Ranger win  lol

    Cheers

Mars was an awesome start, but since then the planets have been a bit of a let down... until now! Could do with a bit of time in the bottle though

Bottled today -- a new high water mark for Congress St IMO. All tropical fruit then a super subtle/fresh as hell bitter bite on the end. Goddamn...

Picked up a few extras at the bottle shop for a trade tomorrow. This guy's been eyeing me for a few days. Sweet with a bitter, citrus-hop, aroma. Falls off a bit on the taste, with a grassy note. Lacking in mouthfeel. Overly sweet. SOS, SOS! I'll be looking for reinforcements.

Sunday Morning Stout from Weyerbacher. Pretty tasty - coffee, charred malts, vanilla, some heat. Cheers!

My cellar is shy two beers today after the Fou' Foune and this BA Abraxas. But I'm definitely enjoying this Monday! Cheers, BA!

I knew I would be hitting one of these up tonight. Since I've had the base Framinghammer, I figured I should have the "regular" BA version before moving on to the Vanilla or Coffee; establish a baseline.

I think regular Framinghammer is comparable to, if not quite on the same level as, Founders Imperial Stout. To come up with a great BA stout (or Baltic Porter, as the case may be), you need to start with a great base brew. This hits every note. I can nit-pick about the aroma and the mouthfeel, but this is a fantastic brew from start to finish.

    Cheers!

Never had the Weyerbacher, so I'm going with the High-Westified over the KBS.

Abita Bourbon Street Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. Apparently this was aged in PVW barrels. The barrel character is delicious, but the base beer is average. Overall, it's pretty good.
