The results of my first LIF are in. Despite adverse conditions, Doug Flutie covered 26.2 miles on Monday with a time of 5:00:42.

@Tee2Grn was able to predict Doug Flutie's Boston Marathon with the greatest accuracy (only fifteen seconds off), and is the winner. It looks like a northern porch will be taking some friendly fire.

I'm planning on being there. Will be my third year in a row. Already have the hotel booked, so hopefully work doesn't get too crazy and hopefully I'm able to score tickets during the AHA presell.

 

Very seriously considering it. I will need a vacation by then pretty bad. It it something where I should book my hote & flightl today, or wait a little bit?

 

I'd consider booking the hotel now, especially since you can always cancel it later. @treznor may know better than me know since he's an out of towner And he's done it before. I just drive 10 minutes up Speer Blvd to get to the GABF.

 

One request Dave, please don't have me sending and receiving to/from the same person.

 

Alright, since we have both joined legitimately this time that can be arranged. Although, your target/sender last time was very happy with the results.

 

With a Southerner running it, I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of us end up being our own senders.

Watch it there Yank, it might just happen to you! Funny thing, you'd probably not notice it, pick out beers, box it up, mail it, get it back, and be excited for 12 days opening a new beer, thinking, damn this box seems vaguely familiar...

 

Yep, I always book the GABF hotels for next year right after I leave the previous year. Don't do an Advanced Purchase rate or anything and you can cancel up to the day before or so you were scheduled to get in. I usually stay at a downtown hotel (typically the Curtis, but I've stayed at the Embassy Suites one time as well) just because its so centrally located and I don't have to worry about transportation at all (except for getting to What The Funk last year since it was pretty far out of downtown).

Edit: @Clarkson , while my habit of booking a year in advance is excessive (though I mostly do it so I don't forget), I would seriously consider booking a hotel in the next month or so. Some hotels, especially in downtown, definitely get completely booked up early and if you wait until you know you have tickets most of the downtown hotels will already be full. Flights you can wait on until you see whether you get tickets or not. This probably isn't advice for someone that's not been before, because experiencing the actual GABF festival is absolutely something you should do the first time, but I'm pretty sure if I get shut out on tickets I'm going anyway. Two years ago I got two sessions (plus a session of Rare Beer), last year I got one session (plus Rare Beer and What the Funk), I'll almost certain try and get the members session again this year but if I don't there is so much additional ridiculous stuff going on at that time that I'll almost certainly still go.

VEDBS (Virtual Earth Day Bottle Share) - I had kept this one for a special occasion and decided that today will have to do. First wild ale from Allagash and it lived up to my high expectations. This will sharpen my resolve to, one day, get a Resurgam!

 

In the last 30 minutes we have touchdown in PA and NJ. NJ is going to just pretend that I put a sign in the box as I was rushed with the repackaging job (FedEx helpfully discarded the sign, oh the humanity!).
