I am excited to move to NC for Sunday sales, growler filling anywhere, and on sale/on premise consumption in beer/wine stores, as well as taprooms that can have guest taps. Minnesota (as I know you know, @treznor!) has none of those things.

Haha, I have a staph infection in my sinus cavities and it is very resistant to antibiotics. I've been on a four week course of antibiotics and nothing seems to be working completely. I will be ok but it is a difficult situation to never quite get 100%. I think the insane amount of beer I drank over the weekend did nothing to help either.

Absolutely! Even though Minnesota is nearly as craycray as PA, welcome to a state with more normal beer laws! My local beer store is absolutely the third best bar in town (with 18 taps... and at beer store prices, not bar prices). Growler fills aren't quite everywhere just because everyone doesn't want to do them. They're allowed pretty much everywhere, but bars typically don't want the hassle since you need a cleaning station, etc.

Plus you're moving to the part of the state that gets the best distro in-state... Raleigh/Durham almost always gets new breweries first (and when it isn't Raleigh/Durham its Charlotte) and you're still able to get distro of pretty much all of the western NC stuff that's harder to get now that WW has distro and NoDa is putting out more stuff for 'self-distro'.

Speaking of WW, are things like Serenity and Genesis readily available, or are those more sporadic? I remember enjoying Genesis quite a bit 6 months ago, and the Serenity I had over the weekend was excellent.

And WIF as well  Was kind of sad they 'only' had Westy 12 for sale as we actually though the Westy Blond was more of a surprise and wished we could have gotten both. Westvleteren 12 was definitely better than the Blond, but the Blond was MUCH better compared to its baseline than the 12 was. I don't think I've ever had a blond (beer) as good...

EVERYTHING from WW is sporadic. Things like Genesis (and Bretticent...) show up more often than other things, but I don't know that there's anything of there's that is always available, at least in my market. But there's almost always something available from them (at the moment I think its Bretticent, TakeTake, and Oblivion). Serenity used to be pretty common, but I don't think I've seen it bottled in a while.

Interesting, how about at the brewery? More consistent selection, or same sporadic availability?

I've been pretty impressed with what I've been able to get in the Triangle on my previous visits. definitely better national distro than here and they do seem to pick up the NC distro pretty well.

I'll miss some of the local MN breweries but I'll get back here at least a couple times a year for work and family, so I'll have ample opportunity to mule back.

Well not to be outdone by Corey at Side Project, Al sure set off a powder keg this morning by defending the pricing of his bottles. While he certainly can, and should, price his bottles where he sees fit I hate that he went on the offensive and made that post.

What's more mind numbing is the people saying they'd happily pay MORE for his bottles. $33 is officially the most I'll pay for his bottles. Perhaps a single exception may be made for a single bottle of Pappy Sunny Side Up (if the guy on FB knows what he's talking about).
