Brauhaus Riegele (Est. 1386) of Augsburg, Germany.

    From the label:
"We partnered with one of Germany's oldest breweries - Brauhaus Riegele - to create a true festival beer unlike any other brewed in the USA. Using traditional techniques and ingredients, we're bringing the style back to its authentic roots with a deep golden color, delicate hop note and rich malt complexity."

    Neck label:
"Brewed in collaboration with Brauhaus Riegele of Augsburg, Germany, this Oktoberfest lager is deep golden in color and rich with malt flavor from the use of traditional German Steffi barley."

    6%ABV

Hmm. Riegele's current Märzen has no reviews -- someone needs to get on this!

Why do they tease us with this now. Of course it may be out in a month.

    I don't know if I'd commit to a 6 pack, but I'd try a pint or a single...usually Oktoberfest styles disappoint me

Interesting quote from the article: "Sierra Nevada on the other hand will develop more presence in Continental Europe. Steve Grossman was talking to a number of German distributors on his visit to Berlin from what we heard."

Looks like Stone will posibly have some competition in its "new" market.

So it's a different brewery every year for the Oktoberfest, right? I love this idea.

The Weihenstephaner Oktoberfestbier that I purchased in September 2014 was brewed in April 2014. By this reckoning, the Sierra Nevada/Riegele Oktoberfest beer is already one month behind schedule!?!

    Cheers!

It also seemed to say that the collaboration would be similar to Riegele's Dortmunder/Export lager, which I wasn't expecting.

I'm very excited about this beer. I love Oktoberfest beers and Sierra Nevada. Also, that label is awesome.

Pretty sure that's the plan -- which means that if this first one is outstanding... it won't be back next year. :slight_frown:
Just the announcement, now they can get down to brewing.

The only Oktoberfests that disappoint me are the American ones.
I've yet to have a single one that comes anywhere close to the Mäerzens from Germany. How I miss the old Löwenbrau Mäerzen that was discontinued many years ago. I still favor Hacker-Pschorr or Paulaner O-fest over any that are made here in the USA.

I'll definitely try this one though, since SN has a great track record to begin with and is behind it with a German partner.
I would only hope that it is something that has already been brewed has been lagering properly...it's just a little bit late to be just starting a true O'fest brew.

Since you live it NJ you really need to get yourself some Ramstein Oktoberfest next fall.

    Cheers!

That was only really true in the days before modern refrigeration. I'm not worried about this one and am looking forward to it because of, as you said, the partnership with a Germ... uh, Bavarian brewery.
