Still pretty amazing. And a much needed palate reset after a few Sips of Sunshine.

Plus it goes pretty well with where I am in the Hobbit movie right about now.

Am I looking for the motherlode? No, my child, this is not my desire...

[IMG] [IMG] Another hotel beer in non appropriate glassware This is by far the best brown ale I've ever had. Found a few of these millipedes today while hiking. That's a .223 round for comparison. And mr hoppy toad caught my eye as we were hiking past his little hidey hole

Got a American red recipe thrown together for Sunday morning. Galaxy/Falconers flight; hop bursted. Made a starter with WLP008 earlier, wanted to try something a little different than the Chico strain.

    Reviews:

Mead side review. This was insanely delicious. Herbal and spicy ginger with medium-full honey sweetness; and nice pear/lemony yeast ester complexity. Balanced sweet/spicy finish; with warming ginger heat building up on the palate through the glass. Never too intense. Flavor balance was amazing. ISO the Nutmeg one after this amazing experience.

Damn nice fruit witbier. Aromas and flavors of big mango, melon, pineapple, pear, lemon zest, orange peel, coriander, pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate bitter/spicy yeast finish; good robustness and balance of malt, spice, fruit, and yeast flavors. Very smooth, moderate wheat creaminess, slight spice stickiness in the mouthfeel. No complaints at all. This is definitely just their witbier with fruit added, all of the base flavors are the same.

Pretty good rauchbier. Aromas and flavors of wood smoke, caramel, brown sugar, toast, light chocolate/nuttiness, and light herbal hops; with some light fruity pear/apple yeast esters, but very minimal. Light herbal/roasted bitter finish; well balanced smoke and malt flavors with light-moderate earthy hop notes. Very smooth with light creaminess in the mouthfeel. It's pleasant and balanced; pretty much intro leveled style example here. Not too much complexity and lacks the smoke flavor intensity I would expect; but not bad at all.

Best before January 2018, 3 year shelf life vs the normal 5? Anyways, this was just as amazing as I expected. Great head retention, lacing, and lively streaming carbonation. Aromas and flavors of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, pear, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toast, brown bread, oak, light vanilla, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate earthy/spicy yeast/oaky finish; fantastic all around complexity/balance between yeast, malt, and oak flavors. Very smooth sipping and minimal warming alcohol after the finish. I wouldn't put one over the other in an oak/regular comparison. The main differences I saw were that the oak has some more bright fruits going on (pear/apples) with some spicy oak and a touch of vanilla. Regular has some more focused dark fruits which include cherries and also a bit darker on the malt(toffee/light chocolate) character. Equal love, but glad to have tried this variation.
