Pale translucent yellow, with a medium carbonated but quickly dissipating white head.
Smells of coriander pears orange peel and a hint of green apple.
Taste is also of pears coriander bananas and a tad of orange and lemon zest. finishes with a slight hint of alcohol.
Mouthfeel is of a medium carbonation that finishes fairly like a dry white wine.

Well Greetings (late) NBS Friends and recent welcome contributors.
Thanks again, to @utopiajane for a most auspicious start. Congratulations on your new status Frau Poobah!!!
And I should thank you again...Maria was the BA that sent me into Poobah status as well. Be careful Maria, you may be judged by the company you keep.

Having just returned from the great PNW, I've had some great beers as of late. However, I feel the need to get back, respectfully, to the amazing box that @Prager62 sent me in the NBS BIF #2. So here we go...

    delusion
a BA Impy Cream Stout that was aged in Templeton Rye barrels by Greenbush in Sawyer Michigan

Pours a deepest mahogany. Dark root beer head gently rises and slowly falls to a thin lace.
Smell is well rounded, deep Templeton Rye barrel, slightly spicy and still sweet with raisin and cocoa notes.
Taste is more subtle with the rye, lite roast, deep raisin or date, lite chocolate & molasses. All delivered with an amazing creaminess. Wait...ok. Now some heat, and again the rye comes in a bit more on the finish- almost peppery with a hint of anise.
This is such a complex, lovely lass. Thanks so much Prager62!!!

Visiting with family for a day or two due to my sister's birthday being tomorrow -- the downside of that being that I can't upload any pictures I take, since my new camera doesn't cooperate with Mom's old computer. But despite the lack of picture (the one I took turned out well, too...), I did have a new beer today.

Well, it was a bomber that I split with my sister shortly after I got home (birthday present!), so I only had half of it. But still. XD

New beer of the day was Stone's Imperial Mutt Brown Ale. Which, as the label on the bottle notes, contains no actual dog. Bottling date was April 8th, 2015 so only about 4 months old; no worries about freshness considering this is from a more-malty style (brown ale) and also has 9% ABV, both of which seem to be "ages well" features from what I've read. Super dark brown (almost "stouty" black in appearance, though the brown-ness is more apparent when held up to light), with a nice layer of light tan foam on top. It shrinks but never seems to fully vanish -- it was a solid layer on top for a loooong time even after shrinking down a bit, and both our glasses had thick rings around the outside and a thin patchy layer left on top by the time we got to the last sips. Smell is nice and definitely in the dark, sweet, malty range, though I do recall picking up a hint of piney-type hops in there as well every now and then. Just a hint, though -- most of the hop presence here seems to be in the form of bitterness, to balance out the massive malt sweetness going on. They do balance each other out pretty well -- it leans more in the sweet/malty direction (actually began to remind me a bit of a doppelbock toward the end, interestingly), but the bitterness is definitely in there too. Flavor is sweet, dark malts (I definitely got some chocolatey flavors) for the most part, shifting a bit over time. Alcohol isn't really apparent right off but becomes more noticeable toward the end -- despite being 9% ABV it comes across as more in the 7% range, though I didn't notice much of a warming feeling in my mouth while drinking unlike some of the 7%-range beers I've had.

Overall, this was really good! My sister agreed -- she actually finished her glass a little bit before I did (which doesn't happen often, as she tends to take a bit longer to finish beers when she has one, especially outside of a restaurant-type setting where you're expected to get up and leave after a while.)

Kicking off NBS with a Smuttynose Finestkind IPA. Great golden color with thin head, scents of pine & citrus and a great pine-hop punch. Very drinkable. Glad I picked this up on the way home from Florida.

Last, Boulevard's The Calling IPA. Light golden color with good head formation and retention. Light hoppy and sweetness notes along with the expected citrus. Tastes of tropical fruits, mild hop followup with a sweet malt backbone. Would make a great summer IPA for me. Hope I see it in So Cal in addition to the regular Boulevard offering we get.

    Cheers!

The video is from The Muppet Show, and they (NBC/Disney) will be doing ANOTHER Muppet Show in the fall, it looks like... but more geared toward adults. Things like- Fozzy having to meet his HUMAN girlfriend's parents. Talking head cutaways like in The Office, that sort of thing. I'm excited.

Happy Monday NBSers. Took my sunday ride yesterday and made a stop at Angry Eriks brewing. It was my first time there but will not be my last. Very friendly/knowledgeable staff and everyone there was outgoing. Good time. Tried a sampler and settled on Fika - very smooth brew. Nice color, great coffee flavor - slight but not over powering. If your ever in the north NJ area I highly recommend a stop here.
