I used to stock up on Spaten Okto to have it around longer than the season. It would start to get oxidized somewhere around late March... and that was Pasteurized. Probably best to drink it sooner than later.

Second day with this, and this shit is gold. And easily at half the price of most imports in this style.

Sierra Nevada has great packaging and quality control. If you can keep it cool I'm sure it would be good through November.

    A great marzen!

Really enjoying this years version. Takes me back to my time living in Germany.

No dark fruit notes at all, but a mellow lager almost pale but Steffi barley in the background

Its positively a refreshing style light tasting octoberfest lager when poured in a tulip glass . The color is golden and the malts they used dont overpower the delicate hops and Steffi barley. On point Sierra and thanks to Mills River brewery location in N.C., my bottle was dated 7/9 . FRESH! I live in Georgia.

Ayingers is one of the best and Sierra has created a very mild easy drinking Octoberfest, they were careful with this one in my opinion only to increase sales to those that dont know the difference in taste.

I took a risk with a 12 pack, but it was Sierra Nevada and knew that even if it was completely outside the style, it would be at least good. I was pleasantly surprised and while a touch too hoppy in flavor*, I think it is better than any other American Oktoberfest I've had in recent memory. Teaming up with Riegele was a good move.

*The hops are wonderfully German, though.

I'm probably just burned out on marzens (a year ago I drank them almost exclusively through fall and winter), but I wasn't as impressed as most of the people in this thread.

Labor Day weekend I'm going to score some of this and sample a healthy dose to see what all the hubbub is about

Being really impressed with the bottled version, I suggested it to my local craft tavern. They quickly ordered two kegs. Should be on today. Excellent beer.

Just finished off a six-pack of Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest today, will be picking up more because it's very tasty.

I'm on my second sixtel, but I doubt I'll get a third. Was pretty blown away when I first tried it, probably because so many American attempts at the style fall so short. I still think it's a very good beer, maybe even great, but there are some minor flaws that prevent me from declaring it the beer of the year. Some (maybe one?) reviewer mentioned a "cheapness" in the flavor profile, and I concur that there is a faint, lingering bitterness that is generally absent from the best of the German offerings. Still worth buying and a great way to say goodbye to Summer!

You bought 2/6 bbl before a flaw dawned on you? Lol.

Bought a 12 pack after enjoying my first 6 pack of this beer. Sam Adams was always my benchmark for American-made OFests, and this one stands right up against it, if not better. Add in the delicious vienna lager from the fall variety pack, and it's seals the deal. SN is making some of the best American made German styles, and no other large easy to find brewery is anywhere close to them.
