If I don't make it, would be looking to swap a bottle of Plague for a La Pienture.

That's why we haven't gone to Turkey Hill yet, because it seems to be open dumb hours! I enjoyed both Selin's Grove and Bullfrog the times I visited, so that's a toss up. Can't go wrong with either.

There will also be an allotment of bottles of both Caliente locations on the Saturday after the Friday Draai Laag release.

You sure it's both Caliente locations?

Hmmm. I could have sworn I read that it was going to be available at both locations, but I just looked at the poster for the release that was previously posted in this thread and it doesn't mention the Hampton one.

I wish it were a stout too :slight_frown:

No but seriously, I think it was mentioned a while back, but I don't know how many pages, but what other breweries have good Oktoberfests besides Penn? I need to try a few this season from the burgh.

I had Rock Bottom's last year (or was it the year before) & thought it was spot on.

Think there were a few mentions of Roundabout and, though it's not 'burgh, I liked Fat Head's last year.

This just reminded me, has anyone had Fathead's new smoked whole wings? They're pretty fucking fantastic.

From what I remember, Roundabout's Oktoberfest was closer to the Paulaner Wies'n version than the darker, sweeter Maerzens (Festbier, Sam Adams, etc), but I really enjoyed it.

I don't particularly care for Oktoberfests or pumpkin beers. I'm ready for winter (beer-wise at least).

I haven't been to Selin's Grove in a while, but really liked it a lot when I was there.

I would say it's a toss-up between the two. If you make semi-regular trips through PA, they're both on the "must visit" list.

If I do make it, I'm definitely interested in this swap.

Yes, and they are good. My standby is the Quadruple Triple Bypass Burger, medium rare and sans bun, but when I'm super hungry I'll get the wings beforehand. I'm only including this because @PSU_Mike has only heard me talking about veggies and couscous and quinoa--here's evidence of unhealthy decisions.

Had these at the the King of the Wing fest a couple weeks back. While good, they were overshadowed by some of the other offerings

Think Fat Heads came in first place in the hot category and second in BBQ.

Anyone want to trade for Prairie Bomb? Looking to do something IP and I could bring to the DL release if you are in no hurry.

Ah I will have to look for those two. I am a big fan of the Schnitzengiggle and always hear about how good Penn's is too. So I will have to get back into it.

I wish I could find the blind Oktoberfest tasting my father in law and I did like 2-3 years ago. We picked like 7 easy to find ones and blindly tasted them. I will have to look

Also a few pages back, was a discussion on harvest/wet hop releases--Fat Head's Hop Stalker was brought up. It's apparently being released at the Brewery/Tap House on 10/6 at 5PM. Bottles, cans and draft. Last year it hit Pittsburgh a day or two later, I think.

Beer Documentary featuring @brewgentlemen comes out on Friday - https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/blood-sweat-beer/id1038814944?ls=1

BLOOD, SWEAT AND BEER follows a trio of 23-year-olds as they struggle to start The Brew Gentlemen Beer Company in Braddock, hoping their brewery will help this once-prosperous steel town bounce back from decades of neglect, violence, and population loss. The film also tells the emotional story of Danny Robinson, a boardwalk brewery owner and restaurateur whose business is threatened by an aggressive trademark lawsuit that could leave him bankrupt.
