Pregame action for OU / Texas ... Cheers to OU hanging half a hundred!

 

Alright, having to walk a fine line here, time to get fired up for OU/TX & I will enjoy several beers to be sure. Must not get rat-assed as my son has a game at 430. First Round of their play-offs. Already warned the Mrs. her driving services will be required Talked to my oldest & asked him about last night's beatdown, 43-7. He said they passed a grand total of 2 times against them, so their ground game was pretty solid. Collinsville is supposed to have a couple of big time players getting D1 scholarships, so it sounds like talent won out.

Ok sir, you are now going to have people expecting works of art out of me! I'm not sure I can live up to the hype! Now each picture I take is going to have to be great! The "salad" is actually onion haha. Seriously though much love for the appreciation, all my IRL friends think my snaps of food are stupid and annoying (pissing them off is why I do it).

First day off in a while. Drinking some good American Oktoberfests along with one of my favorite German 11.2oz options.



Note: My first ever crowler. Despite the ratings, I love Bell's dry and bold/rich pretzel-ish take on a Marzen. Why is it that all of Left Hand's Oktoberfests around here have a best-by of November? The one I had before this one was great, but this one is showing way more degradation than the best-by would suggest. The Paulaner has the expected balance of delicious drinkability and flavor (some would say blandness). Sierra's is one of my favorite new beers of 2015, but it's hoppiness makes it difficult to appreciate when had alongside other options.

I've had all of these beers before. It figures that the only new-to-me beer in the planned bunch suffered a freezing fate in my fridge.

I've always felt that Oktoberfests are the ultimate seasonal. I can't resist them.

 

Solo-doming a 2015 Grey Monday. Got a full day of football about to start

 

Time to plant myself on the couch in the man cave and watch whatever college football is on. I have had this ReDankulous sitting in the fridge for a few weeks now and today is the day it's going down. So far, so good, on the beer front. Enjoy the day all!

Hey again, BA's! About quarter after 12 here in cool, sunny NOVA. This brew goes out to @PatrickCT who kinda pushed me over the edge into finally checking it out:

This one comes with a caveat: I just heard this tune today for the first time, I know zippo about the artist & frankly: I love it!


This should provide a nice respite for those who can't stand selection #1 :-)

At our breakfast beer's place enjoying some beers from a Richmond place I always check out when I can, having visited them a month after opening (unknowingly). Couldn't get the black logo in my Stingo - a Belgian dark strong ale (aged in some type of barrels I believe). So I took a shot of GF's Guarded By Monkeys (Strangeway's "mascot" is a monkey of some sort) - a wild Bière de Garde.


Then I decided to take a shot anyhow:


Stingo has been the winner so far, though a small pour of Adroit's Tennybris barley wine aged in JD barrels was as good as I expected. The Stongo had wood/bourbon combines with the dark sugar/candied and root notes from the base in a way that appeals to me.

 

Not enjoying this start, moving on to an Elk Valley Brewing's Coffee Nemesis...
