That's what I thought, but you threw me with "the new HB franchise." The one in Rosemont has been there a while.

2013. And it's "new" in that they closed the franchise in Wrigleyville then opened this one. I also believe it's the newest in the U.S., but there may have been another opened recently -- maybe Florida?

Good stuff! I loved it in the bottle this year too. I had it this past weekend on draft, it was very good...except...

...I had this before it...probably the hoppiest Oktoberfest I've had this fall, but still not hop forward. This went down fast...

The Andechs Festbier is supposed to be showing up here in the Twin Cities. I'm hoping I can find it!!

Little late in the season, isn't it? I never even knew there was an Andechs Fest -- at least exported.

Neither did I, but for some reason the kegs didn't show up in Boston until October. At two different bars as well.

Andechs just landed in the Twin Cities recently and someone asked the distributor for some more specifics and they said that certain places would be getting kegs of the Festbier. Could be the case that they are/were misinformed?

Ahh -- keg only? That may explain a lot.

For those of you with Total Wines in your area and looking to expand your glassware collection, my local one had these sharp Weihenstephaner Willi Becher glasses (in 0.5L) in last night for $4.99. Couldn't help but pick one up to go along with some Festbier, which I'm looking forward to cracking open (and is usually one of my favorites).

You don't drink a Festbier out of a Willi Becher!!! Ugh!

Seriously, nice looking glassware, I love the brewery and the style of glassware. Great pick up.

This might be my most used style of glassware, but I typically pour all of my Oktoberfest beers into mugs. It just feels...right.

Hahaha, but surely it's an improvement over my nonic pint glass!

Yeah, bechers have become my utility glass -- just a go-to for almost any style when I'm not feeling like fussing with #properglassware. That said, I still need to track down a good krug.

LOL! The only trouble is that the majority of Festbiers I buy are in 12 ounce bottles. I know, I know, I could pour 2 into a half-liter, or 4 into a full, but I like the variety and my small Becher is perfect.

Sometimes I use this, not the same as the dimpled mug, but I like it.

While my local place still doesn't have any German versions, I did find a grocery store down the road a bit that had Paulaner's Wies'n and Amber Märzen, as well as Hacker-Pschorr's Oktoberfest. I haven't particularly cared for Paulaner's version in the past, so I grabbed a 12-pack of Hacker-Pschorr (dated best before 6/16). I still hope to find Spaten sometime soon.

I finally have the new Beer Drinker's Guide to Munich (7th Edition) in hand. Lots of small updates (including to the train system map) including many new locations and companion locations.
For anyone heading to that area, it's always the ultimate resource.

Don't know how/why I waited so long into the season to grab these -- so reliably excellent. I know, I know, the half filled becher is a little gauche, but the 0.5l bottles were a month older than the smaller guys, so I erred on the side of fresheness. Either way, Prost!

That's why there are 5 more bottles in a six-pack -- top off with a second bottle and keep adding while you sip!

I had my last bottle (from the 6-pack) of Weihenstephaner Festbier earlier this evening. It was indeed an enjoyable beer to drink (like the prior 5 bottles).

My glass of choice this evening was my Polish Pilsner glass. I did not take a picture of the beer tonight but here is a photograph of the glass from a prior drinking experience (my homebrewed Classic American Pilsner).

    Cheers!

Mahr's Ungespundetes recently landed on the market in Texas. I enjoyed this beer while in Bamberg in August, so it's good to have access to it again.
