Good evening/good morning. It's 11am Saturday and I'm on my second "Red Ale" from Goodieson Brewery, McLaren Vale, South Australia (SA) AU, about an hour drive south of Adelaide, in the heart of a big wine valley:

Met the brewer/owner yesterday, Jeff, who went to university for his Brewers degree, then worked for years for Lion Nathan. Now he's on his own making small batch, delicious beer.

The Red Ale has an estery fresh hop nose. Grainy base with zesty lemon bitters from the Citra and Galaxy hops. Easily a 4.25 or above overall, imo. I sampled all 6 of his current beers (bottled on site and sold in a dozen local small bottle shops) and all were very good to excellent. A true find; so happy to share this guy's beer with you. Cheers!

Undead Party Crasher... American Imperial stout - features malts smoked with hickory and ash...

    Story behind the name...

    Music to my ears...

    [IMG] [IMG]
Got some Auricchio provolone on-hand to pair with the finishing pour...
Ciabatta wit' butta  ...and a pickle

True confessions: I bought this because I thought I hadn't had it before. Turned out I had...
--> Somewhere out there's a thread where I boasted I'd be able to remember all the beers I had... :flushed:

    Cheers, beer-lovers...

    Will it Black and Tan?

No. Not even with my handy dandy bent spoon dealie.

But it will Pumpkin Stout! And it's a damn tasty one at that.

Getting a late start tonight, but making it count...

And now I'm off to watch [REC] with #2 son, as we start on the scary movies approaching Halloween. Happy Friday, BA!

An Asian street food-inspired supper tonight: satay beef skewers with grilled pineapple slices. Pineapple slices were dipped in sugar seasoned with cloves, then basted with sweetened and seasoned coconut milk during grilling. Pure candy! Bastardized satay marinade made from a bunch of crap tossed into the blender, including fish sauce, green curry paste, soy sauce, chili oil, kaffir lime leaves, fresh ginger, shallots, lime juice and zest, PB2 powder, and one whole Carolina Reaper, seeded.

Of course, an Asian beer to go with the Asian street food: Tiger Lager, from Singapore. An award winner, at least according to the label. Nice looking pour, but lots of corn and not much else on the nose. Not terrible, but absolutely no match for these devilishly fiery beef skewers.

Obsessive. Compulsive. Dog. Kaito is focused on collecting sticks and piling them up by the back deck. Hey, herders gonna herd, and I ain't got no sheep.

After those skewers, I needed a real beer to cut through some of the heat. This did the trick, right out of the can.

I'll leave you with this panorama of the beautiful Cedar River. This scene is getting more vibrant and colorful every day. Too bad it'll all be gone soon. I'll enjoy it while I can, though.

    Peace out!

Fall is the greatest time of the year, especially for Vegas and I as pheasant hunting opens tomorrow. Opened an appropriate beer with *new* glassware. Cheers everyone and have a great weekend!

    Almanac Citra Sour

That's a tart and juicy beer. Phenomenal.

Volquez is pitching a nice game. Got himself into a sticky situation in the 6th
and got himself out. 6 shutout innings. Impressive to watch.

Great introductory sour. I would drink this regularly if I could afford it.

Continuing with some cellar cleaning. Always love this. Probably my favorite SN beer. With 2 years on it, the trademark hoppiness has faded and just left a delicious, chocolatey blanket of black gold in its wake. Fan-fucking-tastic. Probably my last beer (won't rule out a little bourbon) but gonna take one more trip to the cellar to pick out some breakfast. Have a great night all. Cheers.
