Did some running around and people are just fucking nuts! Then it hit me: it's the weekend before Thanksgiving! Hard to tell when I'm in shorts, a t-shirt and flip flops because it's damn near 70 out.
Not a turkey beer per se but it is by virtue of what I have in my fridge thanks to @Hopgoddess312 . I'm really only drinking it because the beers she sent me aren't cold yet.
@CommanderOfAwesome this ones for you brah

This is a 2 year old (but always refrigerator stored) beer that tasted like a super shit boozy scotch ale when I had it fresh it had almost no characteristics of a doppelbock
    [IMG]
    And NOW
A: murky brown in color very little head

S: smells like raisins and apples caramel burnt sugar

T: caramel, fairly sweet, raisins, bready lots of residual sugar has a sour taste on the end and a little bit of an acidic taste

M: very high carbonation tingly n the tongue a little unpleasant for a doppelbock

O: Well fuck...the beer is a lot better than. remember it tasted more like a scotch ale and sadness now it actually resembles a Doppelbock. Not sure about the slight acidic taste and sourness. VERDICT not a Turkey beer at all :grimacing:

In honor of Beer Turkey Day:

    Central Waters Recalls Peruvian Morning
Discussion in 'Beer News' started by InVinoVeritas, May 17, 2012.
    Central Waters said:

    To Our Valued Fans:

After much scrutiny and tastings, we are announcing a voluntary recall of the 2012 batches of Peruvian Morning. The beer has begun to take on a distinct off flavor that is not our intention, and as we stand behind the quality of our beer, we are offering our customers the opportunity to exchange the product they feel is bad for something else.

We would like to clarify that this beer will not hurt you by drinking it, but the flavor profile is undesirable for the style. The nature of our barrel aging program, specifically Peruvian Morning, carries many variables, and a certain level of risk. We have implemented, and will continue to implement strategies to keep this from happening again.

We at Central Waters care very deeply about the quality of our beers, and as a small company every customer is important to us. As such, if you have Peruvian Morning that you feel has gone bad and would like an exchange, please send an email to
[email protected] and we will be in touch with you on a case by case basis.

Again, we apologize for the problem, it is unfortunately a nature of this business sometimes, we intend to make it right by everyone.

Thank you for your support, now and in the future.

    Sincerely,
    Central Waters Brewing Company

And here, is one from that notoriously infected batch along with all of the proper accessories for my nose and stomach. I've been saving this bottle for a special occasion and today's my lucky day!

(In my best Mr. Rodgers voice.) Let's take a closer look at this beer boys and girls, does everyone have a signed waiver release form from your parents so we can all taste this together? ...

A - Isn't that just a wonderful color of beer with a nice lacing ring? It sort of looks like a big chocolate river fell from the tear ducts of a chocolate fairy and makes me all giggly with anticipation like fluffy puppy dogs, unicorns, and rainbow kisses!

S - Oh my, boys and girls :grimacing:, can you say, "Rancid, malodorous Oger urea?" Good! Don't you love how the aroma makes your eyes sting and water profusely?

T - Yummy chocolate that turned to vinegar, acetic, and malic acid with an infected cardboard cherry on top with a side of wet horse blanket.

M - Oh-hhhh, ooky acetal acid makes your mouth water and your breath feel yucky.

O - Taste like the nectar from a pile of Peruvian poopy pee heads, tell mommy and daddy never to trade for one of these bottles, even if it's out of curiosity.

Having my second to last Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout from last year. Have to work a double shift on black Friday, so I'm not sure I'll get many this year. Better for my wallet. Cheers.

Some days you drink in lamentation of a bad day. Others, you drink in celebration of a good day. Today was the latter and I had a great day at work. Lots of fun working in a department where there's tastings going on.

My start to the evening :

Review (imported from RateBeer and adjusted for BA)

    3.66/5 rDev -2.1%
    look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Serving this in a Deschutes tall pilsner glass.

The pour is dark and oil-like, slick black with no light escaping. The head is almond colored and creamy, leaving fluffs of lace.

It smells like burnt chocolate and coffee, some spice, hints of vanilla, and smoke. Very burnt overall though.

Tastes like burnt cookie, coffee, dark chocolate, and charred malts.

The feel is undeniably easy and crushable; this is like the yoplait "whipped" of Oatmeal Stouts. It goes down so easy you don’t realize how fast you’re drinking it. That 5.3% is nothing.

Overall thoughts : If you’re looking for a sessionable winter Oatmeal based Stout, look no further. It’s not great for much else though as there’s not a ton of complexity or depth. Still, an enjoyable try.

I want y'all to get a load of this jive turkey mf-er:

I mean, the nose is fine, borderline nice even. But then--- no flavor whatsoever. None. It's like it sure knows how to talk a big game and all'at, but when you're all like "let's get it on" that turkey's all freakin' weak and shit. Just weak. I mean, no goddamn game at all. Dayum, I feel like if I go any further it'll even start crying on me, and I'd be left with nothing but water in my glass. How the hell can you call something like that 'dry'?!!
