I have to do a like. My wife is a math teacher. She probably would find it a compliment that someone named a beer for this profession.

Indeed is legit. I'm a fanboy. Day Tripper is my favorite pale ale and I have some serious Half Acre (Daisy Cutter) infatuation. Got a growler of Berryswell in early fall and it was massively delicious. Indeed is good. Very good.

With all that said...I don't know that beer.

What the fuck is with you? I swear everything you play on here is exactly what I've been listening to most recently. It's strange, dude.

I sometimes forgot how spoiled I am living a mile away from both Surly and Indeed, as well as a million other awesome MN brews. You ever had rum king? That shit is too legit to quit.

Well I have been hearing negative things about the way this one is aging so at just under a year old I figured I should drink mine. Mine was sure ready to get out of the bottle so maybe the rumors of a infection are true. I kept mine in the refrigerator and I am sure glad I did. Mine only has a slight tart sour note that I have heard can be allot more prominent.
(I am guessing when it has been aged at warmer temps). I am not sure that tart sour note is representative of aged quads as I do not have allot of experience with cellaring this style. The finishing taste of Bourbon Barrel probably saves this for me. All 22 oz will be drank so it is not terrible. But like I said it very well might have gotten a infection. I am just lucky mine has been in the refrigerator. If you have one of these sitting around, you may want to consider drinking it sooner than later.

I don't think I've had any of their 750s now that you mention it.

Minny is a good craft beer town. It's still too bad, in my opinion, that Jon left Stubs though. Maybe it's still doing great, I don't know, but he was good people. I haven't been up there in a while. Not since Steel Toe opened or since Surly opened the new place.

Oh, for sure. I still keep in touch with some MN folk I met years ago at Darkness Days and bars.

I tend to head south these days though when I manage to get out of town. Need to change that, I suppose.

    Back for more!

Took my friend and his wife out for her belated birthday dinner. Since I was driving, I kept myself to a single beer (Upright's excellent Engelberg Pilsner), but now I'm home and ready for something stout and barrel-aged to ward off the chill. Hey, let's try this one:

It's one of those imperial stouts that's more about the dark fruit character than roastiness. Nose is like milk chocolate-covered graham crackers and bourbon. The flavor starts off like those dark chocolate-covered raspberry jelly sticks, then caramel in the middle (nice!), and it ends with alcohol, tangy wood, dark chocolate. Bourbon is prominent throughout, but not harsh.

Overall, it's sweeter than I like and doesn't stray much from the dark chocolate/raspberry/bourbon profile, but it's not a turkey.

    Soundtrack:

From what I've heard of it, Rum King is one of those beers which I would actually trade for.
