Been too long since I've had a Grapefruit Sculpin.

And that album by The Ocean is great stuff.

Spent the day watching football and getting ready for my daughter's 5th bday. Frozen themed, of course. Even Elsa showed up!

Heard that Kona Brewing had Da Grind Buzz Imperial Stout on tap, a creamy imp coffee stout brewed with Kona coffee. So smooth, no bitter finish some coffee beers tend to have. Easily my favorite KBC beer.

So good, I had another! Especially at only $5.50 a glass!

Onto the last Carnal Knowledge. It's good beer, for sure. Got a little Old Rip chaser to warm the old bones on a bitterly cold night.

    I picked this up because:
    A: I remember liking it
b; I have been living Death by Coconut
C: I didn't think this got distributed this far East

It is a good porter but barely a hint of coconut

I've been doing a bit of cellar cleaning lately and decided to crack these open

2009, 2010, 2011 Foothills Sexual Chocolate mini vertical

The 2011 has held up pretty well with a nice balance of robust roasted dark malt, liquid smoke and lighter, dessert-like sweetness. 2010 is a bit over the hill with port-like oxidization and heavy carbonation. Kind of bland really with burnt malt, spent coffee grinds and delicate sweetness. The 2009 is too far gone at this point but actually tastes better than the 2010. Thin and with more oxidization than the 2010 but has softer carbonation and more complexity. Burnt, acrid and bitter with deeply charred malt and liquid smoke, but there's a decedent amount of chocolate sweetness balancing things out. Overall, this was an interesting experiment but all should have been opened a while ago. The 2011 was still enjoyable but definitely past it's prime.
