Don’t know if you heard, but we’re going to be pouring Berlin-brewed Stone beers for the first time ever this Monday 7 December in about 40 bars, restaurants & breweries across Europe.

    http://berlin.stonebrewing.com/content/dec-7th-fresh-germany

BTW, we’re anticipating opening our "Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Berlin” at the end of March, and should you find yourself with the ability to visit Berlin in Spring 2016, please come by. You’re definitely invited!

As with our Stone World Bistro & Gardens locations in San Diego, we’ll have a LOT of guest beers. We’re going to love sharing with Germans and Europeans the depth, character and range that is craft and artisanal beer.

    Cheers!

    Greg

That's not going to wind people up the wrong way at all.

The question is, will there be some traditional german guest beers? Like at Hopfenreich, which is a "craft beer bar",but they also have sometimes stuff like Mahrs U or Potsdamer Biermanufaktur Berliner Weisse...

Only when you intentionally want to read it the wrong way. Since we're going to have a lot of German guest "craft and artisanal" beers, and we all know that most Germans (like most people on the planet) are not very well aware of craft or artisanal beer even though it's in the their backyard, this is not a very shocking or controversial statement.

Well...yes and no. Mahrs U isn't quite 'traditional' per se. However, I expect we'll have a MahrsBraü beer on pretty much most or all of the time. And if a beer is brewed in Potsdam, it can't technically be a Berliner Weisse, but it certainly can be a Potsdamer Weisse.

We're ultra cynical Euros. Of course we read it the wrong way.

How come none of the Brewdog bars are participating in the launch? Will they still be handling your UK distribution?

How is Mahrs U not "traditional"? And well, the Potsdamer Biermanufaktur calls their beer Berliner Weisse, see: http://www.braumanufaktur.de/index.php/berliner-weisse

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the opening in Berlin.

They used to call it "Potsdamer Weiße" all the years and now seem to have changed it to "Weiße" only on the label... interesting that they changed it....

LOL. Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I'll be at the Castle Pub in Berlin on the eve of January 8th should you wish to discuss further. See you then?

Ahhh...a padawan that speaks like a master. Should've seen that coming. Castle has an outstanding craft beer lineup on any given day. That weekend though, it's a special event: http://www.castlepub.de/#!gesundbrewing/c1pwv

I'll leave the schultheiss to you.

Those are Berlin breweries. Some are run by Americans, but that's just a reality of the Berlin beer scene. Should American craft brewers operating in Berlin be excluded from the event or something? Not sure I follow.

Are you going to be pouring any of them in Berlin Christmas week?

no, nobody should be excluded from anything, ever. This is somebody's event and they can do whatever and invite whoever they want, I might be a great night! Let me just qualify something before I go any further, I like America, I generally like americans (especially the ones ive spoken to on here), I really like a lot of American beer, Ive quite liked a few of the stone beers that ive tried. What I'm not a big fan of though is the Americanisation and homogenisation of beer, craft is just a marketing concept in Europe and although im a fan of some of the beers and breweries im getting a little tired of the creeping Americanisation of it all, everywhere is ending up the same, I can walk in a "craft" beer bar in London, oslo, Helsinki and now berlin and be met with the same style bar, the same style beers with English language names and the same hype, im also told I should be willing to pay around double the price for this cool experience. Yep, I know its the way of the world, people like this kind of thing, its business, all that stuff, I just don't happen to think its amazing. walk down the high street in a European city, starbucks, mcdonalds, dunkin donuts, stone brewing.

Oh and I'd disagree on one thing, the reality of the berlin beer scene as I see it is 50 cent bottles of sternburg in the park

There are a small variety of bars and restaurants in Berlin that are serving Stone, but as we've only just started production on our small brewhouse, it's hard to say where they will and won't be available on tap on any given day. Please tweet or inquire on Facebook @StoneBerlin closer to your arrival and we'll direct as best we're able!
