Bought two cases this year, I figure I can drink one a week and make it almost to when it comes around again next year.

Short's Freedom of 78 is still a juicy guava bomb after six months. Tasting like summer once again on this fine December afternoon along the southern shore.

The second for today, and maybe the closer, 22 oz. of Union Jack makes its presence felt

Sticking with Florence, just showing a softer side and her vocal prowess...

I hear ya Admiral. I did the same with FBS this year. In 2013 I bought 4 cases, but 2 years pushes it. I've got 3 bottles left that I'll be doing side by sides with fresh here sometime soon. Save a bottle or 2 and let us know/see how it ages.

Well one advantage to house cleaning is finding stuff. I found a bottle of Cranberry Belgian Pale Ale brewed by our esteemed @JackHorzempa . I am not completely sure how old it is, but the beer drinks fine. Six or eight months, Jack? Still plenty of citrusy hop presence, a nice little tartness and tingly mouthfeel from the cranberry plus the Belgian flavors that are quite well restrained. A very tasty, smooth drinking, flavorful beer indeed.

In honor of my fellow BAs that throw down at 7am, I will not let 22oz. of Union Jack and a Pipeline close me for the day. Here's the closer...

Canned on 12/09/15... I don't know about all of you but I just can not enjoy an IPA after it's more than, say, maybe ten hours old.

About 7 months; I bottled that batch on 5/5/15. I had one last week and I enjoyed drinking it as well.

I am glad that you found it!!

    Cheers!

This dropped at CBC today so I really couldn't pass it up.

Nice nose, hazy and full of mildly dank tropical pine.

Nice amount of info on the side panel. I didn't get a picture of the other side where they warn you that if you don't like hops, this beer may not be for you :sunglasses:

They really REALLY want you to know this is a hoppy beer and that you should drink it asap. The packaging is very "ME TOO!!" but, honestly, that's fine. Putting a pretty aggressive "drink by" suggestion on a beer that will be very widespread might actually tune some people in to the idea that beers, especially hoppy ones, have a shelf life, and maybe that in turn will cause dates to be paid more attention to by the average beer shopper/consumer. That said I will be saving one to drink after the 35 day freshness period has expired to see how it holds up.

My one gripe with this beer so far is the price - the 4 pack was $14, so $3.50 a can. I'm hoping that's nowhere near the average, because if it is this is not at all likely to be a repeat purchase for me.

This, to me, is at the level of Hardcore Chimera (which I think is a solid 4/5 IIPA), maybe even a notch better with the fuller mouthfeel. However around me HC is about $9/4 pack, and at $5 less for similar flavor and ABV I would pick that over this every time. I see no reason at all why SA couldn't make this $2 or $2.50/can and call it a day, so I really hope to see that happen soon. If I could have this readily available and fresh, year-round, at that price point, it would probably always be in the fridge.

Overall I think I give this around a 4/5 and I'm very glad SA made it, regardless of how "late" to the stupid hop popularity contest they may be. If you're on the fence about this one, get off the fence and go pick up a can because it's definitely worth trying. I am interested to see what happens in 2016 when people start putting this in blind IIPA taste tests and everyone loves it when they can't see the label

    Cheers!

I'm with you, IPAs basically become lagers 6 seconds after the can is opened.

I found two, only drank one. I had stashed them in a six pack sleeve that ended up in a paper bag with other goodies.

I work out of my own basement. Unless I take my daughter's dog for a walk, I don't even know what time of day it is. Entire months go by that I don't know what day of the week it is.
