Just returned from a trip to France and Scandinavia and wanted to post about my beer adventures in Copenhagen. First night in town, the Mrs. and I made it to Warpigs (http://warpigs.dk) and I was really impressed with the BBQ and, of course, the beer. I live just over an hour away from 3F and wanted to see the collaboration. I thought that the glasses were a bit odd compared to what we are used to here, but the beer was quite good. I had the Salmon Pants, Real Estate Mongol, Lazurite, and the Warpigs/18th Street (IN?) collaboration, Hunter.

We also had dinner at Ol & Brod (http://ologbrod.com), which is another Mikkeller venture. Dinner here was much nicer, you choose either three or six courses from a set menu. They offer a beer pairing of six drinks for an additional 240 kr (just under 40 bucks) or wine pairing. Interestingly, Mikkeller has started production on two white wines, and my wife had the resiling with her dinner. Otherwise you can ask for mixed drinks, but they are limited to Schnapps and Aquavit selections. The beer pairing consisted of smaller, wine-sized pours of Mikkeller Say Sun, Boon 2 year old Unblended Lambic (Foeder #97), Warpigs Real Estate Mongul, Mikkeller Vesterbrown Ale, Mikkeller Belgian Tripel, and Mikkeller Monk’s Elixir. The pairing menu is obmiouly related to the dinner menu, so it varies. Mikkeller Bar (http://mikkeller.dk/mikkeller-bar/) is located right next door, but we were too full (and tired) to go down any pints.

Just as an aside: Warpigs, Ol & Brod, Mikkeller Bar, and the Olbytikken beer shop (https://www.facebook.com/Olbutikken) are all in walking distance of one another in Vesterobrogade. Unfortunately the Mikkeller & Friends Bottle Shop (http://mikkeller.dk/bottleshop/) is located in Norrebro which was about a 40 minute walk away.

All in all, I can heartily recommend both Warpigs and Ol & Brod for dinner and drinks.

I wasn't really that impressed with the BBQ at Warpigs, the meat quality itself was fairly meh, especially. The beer selection though was great.

Too bad you didn't make it out to the other Mikkeller and Friends - it has an even bigger tap list than the original and of course the bottle shop is pretty nice.

Copenhagen is definitely a great city to eat and drink in!

Here's my beer list and "cheap" trip comments on Copenhagen :

Ugly Duck - Amarillo and Citra IPA
Ugly Duck - Imperial Vanilla Coffee Porter
Thisted - Limfjords Porter (incredible beer for 12 K (£1.20 a bottle) in supermarkets)
    Wiibroe - Porter

These were all bought at Irma supermarket for 12-27 Kr and very good.

    Beer Here - Lupulus
Crooked Moon - Pretty Little Thang
Dry and Bitter/Against the Grain - Just in time (both D and B and above brewery linked to bar Fermentoren (best bar visited in terms of good beer and great ambiance)
    Hornbeer - Charlies Cool Porter
All In Brewing - Big Blind IIPA
    Wiibroe - Porter
    Gamma - Radiation Sickness
    Edge Brewing - Powerplant
    Aecht Schlenka - Rauchbier Urbock
    Anchor - Liberation Ale
    Ghost Brewing - Soft Liquid
    Hornbeer - Top Hop
    Amager - Shadow Pictures
    Herslev - India Dark Ale
Bad Seed - Lazarus Resurrection IPA

Found a few bars which did happy hours with a large beer the price of a small : Taphouse 61 taps with about 10 on happy hour until 6 pm and nice staff. The ones I had were fine http://taphouse.dk/.
Aens Ol all their beers on happy hour from 4-8 pm http://aaensoel.dk/. Very good selection of IPA's and friendly staff.
Perhaps the best bar for great beer, staff and ambiance was Fermentoren http://www.copenhagenbeer.dk/ølbar/fermentoren with small beers for 30 Kr, large 50 Kr.

Just booked flights and hotel to Copenhagen for Mrs. Kozel's Xmas. She's a big fan of The Bridge and Borgen and is also a fan of Mikkeller beer so hoping it'll be a nice surprise for her. Not going until April, so will be using this page as my guide nearer the time...can't wait!!!

    Hi Kozel.

I hope Copenhagen will be a great experience, not least as far as beer goes.

May I humbly suggest my own Copenhagen Beer Safari? (I also have for Denmark, Gothenburg, Stockholm, my hometown Oslo and so on). Just in case you are wenturing in those parts one day as well.

You can find it on Foursquare
