Merry Christmas Day 5, BA's! Gonna try this again, since my first attempt to post this got rolled into an earlier thread. Celebrating an on-call Christmas weekend in which I did not get called in once. Also doing penance for the stretch of unseasonable weather by having to dig out of several inches of snow and ice here in the Cedar Valley. Stay warm!

Cheeses, what a beer!
Struise Tsjeeses 2013, showing what can really be done in the field of pale ales. Fruity but not too fruity. Spicy but not too spicy. Sweet but not too sweet. It's amazing with a few years on it too.

 

Little wintry mix of weather came through last night. Feels like winter finally. Enjoying some late breakfast while working remotely.

She loved it - a little put-off by the sleet we're getting right now but still had a blast Dadding is a lot of fun.

Barrel aged Cassius IPA at the Greenbush Annex. This style is hit or miss with me and I'm quite impressed with this one. Big hop flavor with just the right amount of barrel and some heat in the finish. Perfect as I stare out the window at *********s flying.

Today's late morning snack was nachos along with a Bloody Mary. Simple, yet tasty again (both).


But this is Beer Advocate, so the beer in my glass now is Bloody Roots, from Adroit Theory:


Bloody Mary "imperial brown". Honey, earthy root, and tomato sort of come through. Unfortunately the habanero and horseradish bite do not, so much. The bourbon barrel version of this has a real spice bite, and is a step above the base beer even though the bourbon is rather light in the BBA version. Wished this one brought some of the spice quality of the variant.
