Me and the baby are prepping a large pork tenderloin for the slow cooker. Gonna be some great eats to accompany the great beer and (hopefully) the great football. Enjoy. Cheers.

Hey BA! Happy Saturday and welcome to the weekend.

On Monday there was an outpouring of love and memories on WBAYDN in the wake of David Bowie's passing. I'm going to share mine in the hopes I'm not out of line!

I am currently enjoying Alewerks 2014 Jubilee (my favorite offering from them and sadly one of two I have left) and spinning some appropriate tunes while I crack this open in honor of David Bowie.

In the summer of 2005 I was broke and living in Brooklyn. I somehow got on a list to Arcade Fire's show in Central Park. It was a good show, but the encore was next level. Win stepped up to the mic and simply announced “This is a David Bowie song.” No sooner than the first chords of “Queen Bitch” rung out was Bowie at the mic and being backed by Arcade Fire. I was simply caught up with seeing this music idol on stage for the first time of my life. When Bowie picked up a guitar and traded vocals on 'Wake Up', it was remarkable. What I couldn't know was it would be the first and only time I'd see him, and moreover this was one of the last times he'd ever appear on stage. I have always regarded it as one of my top concert moments but 10+ years on and with his passing, it is solidly at #1 for me.

If you read through that, thanks for allowing me to share!

tl;dr Cheers! to you all and to David Bowie. I guess we'll just have to adjust.

I'm not sure what my absolute favorite style is, but hoppy wheat has to be in my top 5.

Having some morning OJ. Stopped by grocery store this morning for a few things and bought the new folly pack for this and the RyePA. And happened to stumble upon a stack of about 6 cases of of Dogfish Head Punkin and was confused til saw $2 for a four pack! So I did splurge a whole 2 bucks on that as well.

I basically agree, but this is a "novelty" song and as such sorta gets to slide.

Good late morning BAs! I was down at the lab I used to work in this morning making arrangements for cultures and supplies for next week's class. Yes! I'm back at die Uni for a semester teaching microbiology to non-biologists. Of course I was hired yesterday at 1630 (pending ********* background checks, fingerprinting, rectal probing, etc.) and the class starts Tuesday at 1700. Naturally the texts haven't arrived, everything is closed for the glorious holiday Monday, and I'll be writing a syllabus this weekend based solely on conjecture, hope, and good intentions. But hey, bend over and welcome back to Academia! I'm just so thrilled to have purpose in my life again that I have to share it with yinz. Anyway, today's late breakfast beer is:

Perhaps I'm just projecting through my rosy glow of euphoric purpose, but this is an excellent ale, much more enjoyable to me than Arrogant Bastard. Maybe it's just the slightly lower alcohol level (9.1% Hairy vs 7.2% Bastard)- Wait, Hairy is actually higher but still smoother? Damn! Bastard, maybe you should be less arrogant and bow before the Hairy Eyeball!

Biscotti break is too hard to find, so I went with this instead. This is great, not in your face spicy at all, but not so faint you can't tell the spice is there. It's sort of a slow build up to the spiciness which is really nice. Would purchase again in a heartbeat if they produced this more than once.
