Total Wine Roseville has 12/10 Abrasive and Hopslam. Any one crack a Hopslam yet?

cracked one today (1/26). cant say im much a fan. then again, never really have been. i buy a sixer or two and call it quits.

i know a lot of people comment about the 'onion' taste of DIPAs and this is one that i definitely always get it from.

Not a fan but you spend $18-40 and choke down 6-12 of them every year? Come on man, no need to punish yourself like that.

    true.

want to say i enjoyed it a bit more last year, but i was still new to the hops game. this year i think i just know there are many more options out there.

Honestly it's a fair enough statement. I've felt that KBS has been in decline the past two years, but I still usually end up picking up a four pack to give it a shot. Same story with Hopslam - I've never seen the hype (though it isn't a bad beer per se), but I always find myself picking up a few bottles each year.

Is that 50 cases of dark penance stacked next to it?

I agree, I've been totally underwhelmed the past two years, which are the only years I've had it. I'm a sucker so picked up another sixer tonight, I'll give it another go but not expecting much. I don't understand the hype on this beer, Chillwave is a thousand times better in my opinion and goes pretty under the radar, counting down the days to that release.

*Unless you are The Brew Kettle. In that case, keep pumping out the Black Rajah. Because that shit is awesome.

I am enjoying one right now. Canned on the 1/26. It's been a few years since I've had it, but this year tastes might fine!

I think breweries are now seeing that Black IPA's don't sell as well. Founders is getting rid of Dark Penance and you don't see as many new black IPA's anymore. A while ago, white IPA's were the new hot IPA style and they aren't popular now. Session and fruit IPA's are the new hot IPA styles.
