What beer are you drinking now? #1202

Enjoying a nice lunch time beer

 

Fair. Pretty drinkable; not super unique. Think I've another can and I'll have to check the date, because I can't remember at the moment. Pretty sure he grabbed these from Alewife.

 

Pouring rain all morning, so I stayed indoors and worked with the electrician replacing some old lighting. Work done. Beer time:

How is it? I picked a couple up, having one Sunday and put the other in my cellar aka under my sink.

 

Been waiting for it to start raining here, looks like it wants to.

 

Nod to all things Maine.
Local oysters that I shucked with a dash of hot sauce. Allagash sixteen counties beer: made with Maine grown malts and hops. Perfect pair!

 

Aged 11 months in Pinot Noir barrels.

Also listening to some NEW Megadeth today. Can you guys believe that Megadeth made in onto the Billboard Top 200 Pop chart this week. Check out the TOP 3 sellers this week. One you might not expect...lol.. I guess Metal ain't quite dead yet......

Pours gold with a mostly transparent body, 3 fingers of head. Lace sparsely decorates the glass.

Again, a fairly malt-forward aroma. Not bad, as I lean more towards malty beers. Fresh grain, baked and toasted cereals, and a pinch of sweet fruity hop. As it warms I get a bit more of the armpit aromas.

The flavor is a bit of a clash unfortunately. Dundee's malt forward signature falls flat as it forces hop flavor to make up the difference. It comes off tasting a bit chalky and planty-sweet. It leaves a starchy, sticky, old harvest vegetable feeling at the back of the throat.

Feel is well-carbonated, but the finish is as mentioned, starchy and sticky and not pleasant at all. It reminds me of the aftercoat of cough syrup.

Overall, if I had to pick a loser from the 12-bottle variety pack, this one would probably be it. Their porter isn't far behind though. The Pilsner and English Style Ales are the winners out of the case.

Alpine Hop Boxed

 

Finishing what I started yesterday.



A wonderful tasting coffee stout, although it didn't retain its carbonation a day later like I'd hoped.

 

Got a few bottle of this delicious blended sour at the Dieu du Ciel Bottle release. This is a bled of their Solstice d'Ete framboise with Heretique (a Bretted Belgian IPA aged in pinot noir barrels for 1 year).

 

A post run beer on a sunny but cold and windy day. I completely forgot there were three more lying around after being rather underwhelmed and losing interest. As crazy as it sounds, I'm actually getting more chocolate and coffee in the aroma and flavor now than when it was fresh back in October. It tastes like a thinner fresh Breakfast Stout with some heat in the finish. I guess it's time to enjoy the other two real soon? Cheers, it's almost Friday!
