I didn't ask how but I think many small store owners have a good idea who shops their stores most often.
I'm sorry you have never gotten any type of benefit after dropping $1,000's at a small local store. Small things like being asked if you are interested in a BCBBS bottle that wasn't picked up is a nice surprise when checking out or being given a sample of the latest beer from a little known brewery are always appreciated.

If TW Maple Grove already had BADSDB then they're lying too, they told me tomorrow (Friday) when I called on Tuesday. Either the distributors are lying to the stores OR the stores are lying. Since distributors are on set schedules.............

Totally agreed. Heritage just doesn't operate that way, no lists, no saving bottles of any kind and most of the limited stuff is posted on social media and sold out within minutes.

I don't think there is ever a justifiable reason for a liquor store (or any business) to lie to customers/potential customers.
If a call comes in the only responses should be honest ones: Yes just got it, not yet - we'll have it friday, we're not getting any, maybe - won't know until it shows up, etc.,
If they don't want a 'mob' storming their store, don't like about when it will be there... just allow your regulars/'best' customers to reserve it. Then, again, be honest on the phone: we're getting it friday, but it is all reserved. They won't have a crowd problem.
If you're an employee and are annoyed by the phone call... maybe find employement where answering phones isn't part of your job description....

I have a good local store and they know me and I didn't even have to ask for it. They asked if I wanted it when I walked in. I know how this works, but lies are annoying. I try to call less and drop in at local stores. I also try to buy at least one other item with the rare item to show support.

I don't know why liquor stores don't set up a pre-screen option thing, and set a pre recorded message giving info on releases that everyone is bugging them about.

Ex. - "you've reached Joe Bob's Liquor. Our hours today are x to x. If you're calling about BADSDB, we will be getting it on Friday and doing a timed release at 1 pm, 1 bottle per person. If you have a question about wine, press 1. If you have a question about beer, press 2. etc."

Eliminates the need to answer the question over and over and most people will hangup before the phone behind the counter ever rings. If you're a business owner, you should be able to figure out that level of technology.

I have been wondering the same thing for years. It's almost too simple of a solution.

I am Sorry, but it is not that hard to answer the phone and spend 10-20 seconds answering a question for customers, The main part of our business is Customer Service, seems places are forgetting that, Just my two cents.

$0.276 per oz in 750s vs. $0.139 per oz in 12 oz cans ($10 per 6 pack)

You can now buy our beer in a less convenient packaging type for twice the price!

Sorry, I get fired up about bomber pricing and so many people ignoring per oz cost of bombers vs. cans/bottles. A 5 dollar bomber = a $16 six pack, not a good deal. Wake up, people!

I seriously am baffled as to why they are doing this tho. Maybe something about the new bottling line that they installed? I know there was talk about this since the installation of the new bottling line is what pushed back the release of BADSDB a couple weeks.

Considering that Bent Paddle has a stump speech for canned beer vs bottles on their site, I am even more confused.

A prepackaged beer they can sell from their brewery and on Sundays? While they've been able to do that with regular growlers for a little while now, this offers something that can be done in large volume.

And every brewery seems to be going multi format these days, stealing a page from MBC and spamming store shelves with multiple SKU's of the same item in different packing.

Good call, Sunday sales angle makes sense. Pricing still doesn't.

Did they change the name or is this a totally new beer?

I remember reviewing Le Petite Mort before, but that is now under the De Kleine Dood listing. There is still a retired listing for the LPM though too.
