But isn't offering 3 extra tickets to Hoarders pretty much the same thing? I think it's more fair to spread the tickets between more RS or even PS members than to offer such a huge amount to HS and their non-member guests.

It was just kind of nice for a HS member that was splitting to be able to attend with their cohort and each of their SOs.

I was PS for a year, then RS for a year, and now am HS. I think that letting people try a beer is great, but it's HS for a reason. I may get X bottles of this first but there has to be a few beers a year that are HS only, period. Also, I planned on having 4 tickets this year to the party, which is slightly unfortunate, but I'm pretty much over it.

I VERY rarely complain about something, but when someone shells out an extra 350$ to go from RS to HS, I'm expecting a few beers for HS only. With that said, if someone is staring at the board and I overhear them talking about how much they'd really like to try something, I'll do them a solid and get them a taster. Or, if someone asks me, I'll gladly buy them a taster of something HS only.

Exactly, and that's usually what happened.

No salt tbh, I trustee for hoarders and typically end up with bottles as a result.

I don't intend to argue about HS exclusive bottles, it makes perfect sense. I just think it's silly to see people complain that they don't get enough benefits for being in HS when you're already getting plenty.

Funny how you get different reactions in different threads. If someone were to complain the MT membership didn't offer them enough perks they might get called out for it

You can't really compare The Bruery's membership to MT, because there are different tiers of this membership. Each tier is going to have something different to say.

PS is always going to want RS stuff, RS is always going to want HS stuff, and HS is always going to want all the things. It isn't a slight at the HS members, but I see why when someone shovels out that much money for something they expect the perks to be worth it.

Maybe I just think differently, but I don't mind more people trying beers that I already secured bottles of and have access to pours at anytime.

Someone did complain about the MT membership and how he didn't feel enough like a member when he went to the tasting room. And he did get called out.

Also I don't know if phrasing it as people complaining about not getting enough benefits is entirely accurate. HS used to get 4 tickets, now that has been cut to 2. That's a reduction in benefits for the same buy in price, not that they aren't getting an additional benefit promised or speculated.

Yeah, the tickets were never really what was on my mind. Does suck especially when people might have already made plans

I definitely get the complaints over the reduction in tickets for Hoarders. While it wasn't one of the reasons I decided to split a HS membership, it was a nice bonus that I'd be able to bring someone with me and get in an hour early.

Quick question though. Was it stated in the welcome package or anything that HS would still get four tickets?

A Hoarders membership isnt made to be split, so you can't really complain when something HS-related primarily only has a negative effect on people who are splitting it.

For clarification, last year hoarders got in an hour early and got a taster of Flanders Giant before it was released. There were also timed releases at 12:30 during the hoarders only hour and then there were timed releases at 2 pm of different beers.
So in essentially those 12:30 releases were hoarders exclusives.
While I think it does suck that hoarders only get 2 tickets I am only in reserve so I don't have a dog in this fight.

I'd hardly consider my tone to be a complaint, just a comment. Also I'm pretty sure a large number of Hoarders don't split or effectively split their membership by hooking up friends with the extra allocations. I'm sure the Bruery knows this and really, why would they care because it means more bottles overall will get purchased. My comment on Hoarders historically getting four tickets being reduced down to two for the biggest event of the year is a reduction in benefits is still completely valid, however.

Perhaps complaint was the wrong word, but considering how many posts in this thread (as every year) could be categorized as such, it becomes standard practice.
I agree that the reduction of tickets available is a reduction in benefits, under the assumption that no added benefits are being created to compensate. I havent been to the anniversary party in years, so I havent paid too much attention to what tickets include this year, and thus can't speak to that. On the other hand, the decision was presumably made by the Bruery because they weren't seeing many HS members buying more than two tickets, so decided it wasn't a significant concern. I guess I just don't have enough friends (or at least friends who aren't also in a society) to see 4 tickets as something that a significant amount of members would view as highly necessary. This comes back to the idea of 4 tickets primarily being used by two individuals who are splitting a membership and wanting two tickets each for themselves and their S.O.s. If the Bruery thought that the majority of HS membership spots would go to two people who would otherwise be RS members joining up together, it doesn't really seem worthwhile for them to have created it in the first place.

People splitting a HS membership still buy out most or all of the bottles allocated to them and it frees up spots to bring in yet even more members into the RS. This equals more total individuals being able to drop copious amounts of money on Bruery beers, especially brand new big-eyed excited members. Not a bad business plan.

So if HS only gets 2 tickets, shouldn't RS only get one ticket?
That's what I paid for with HS, double allocations.
    come at me RS:stuck_out_tongue:

I think PS should get 1/2 a ticket.

I was actually just about to mention this.

I'm HS and am truly bummed about having my benefits downgraded, especially because I now have to see if there is any way to account for the 2 tickets I already pseudo-promised... but this really is my fault for speculating. I can't really be mad at the Bruery, only the situation that I realistically put myself in.

To be clear, I don't really want RS to be demoted to 1 ticket. I don't think PS or public should get any though. At the same time, HS has generally been given double the allocations of RS and it seems like there is no shortage of people fine with the decision because it isn't them. If RS *DID* get cut to 1 ticket, there would be a flood of complaints and e-riots.

Everyone values their membership in a different way. Some care more or less about certain perks, such as ticket allocations, exclusive beers, beer allocation size, etc. Personally, the anniversary and specifically my previous ticket allocation have been a major factor when deciding whether to renew. Not the only factor by a long shot, but certainly one that made deliberation be measured in seconds instead of minutes. I'm sure there are also people think that is a stupid reason because of reasons x,y,x that they value but I don't. Bottom line for me: Sucks to not have 4 tickets like I hoped, but life goes on and I'm going to have to work a lot harder to fulfill promises. Frankly, its not my event, it is someone else's that I'm allowed (and grateful) to attend.

Side note on exclusive beers... Just because you WANT to try it and the beer is present where you are doesn't mean you're entitled to try it. As was mentioned earlier, BT Reserve has been shared at events and served to non-HS folk. If you want to try the beer, that is definitely one avenue to try it. You could also trade for it, make friends with a Hoarder, or seek it out in a bottle share.
