How did you find out about BeerAdvocate.com?

Searching for descriptions/styles of new brews that i bought that were so good/different at the time then anything i had ever tasted , i had to find and learn more about them Beer Advocate kept on coming up on searches, lurked for a couple of years and then i joined.

 

I found a link on Reddit showcasing the top beers of 2006. That link led to BA.

 

came across it at a liquor store that puts popular website ratings on their shelves next to said beer. One google search later and there I was. Or here it was. There it was?

 

I bought some SNPA on a whim, then got curious about the beer I was drinking and figured somebody must be doing beer reviews. That lead me to youtube and Greg and Jay's reviews, and one or both of them mentioned BA (and some other significantly less impressive looking beer site. ) Guess which one I picked?

 

Another forum I frequent that has a "what beer are you drinking"/general beer talk type thread.
I was referred here for general knowledge once I really got into beer the forums became one of my go-to sites...

 

4-5 years ago when I got into the scene, a buddy of mine got tired of me always asking him about beer. He finally said to go check out beer advocate dot com. So I did.

I researched a lot and looked at ratings, along with following and reading a lot of forums for a couple years before finally creating an account a little over a year ago.

 

Looking up a certain beer on google and found this.

 

Google beer searches have a high traffic path worn in to BA.

 

I used to read the Beer Advocate column in the old Boston Dig.

 

when I first started out I would google a beer name + review and it always came to this site. So I lurked around a couple of months before joining.

liquor store "shelf-talker"

 

Some combination of shelf cards in stores and attending festivals

 

Googling beers then finding the top 250 list.

 

A buddy at work told me about this place and ruined my life hahaha

 

Truthfully, I really don't know for sure. I figure I found Beer Advocate one day just messing around on the internet years ago.

 

I signed up for the Magazine when it first started and have been on the web site almost as long.

 

Barcade Brooklyn used to, and may still I didn't check, link their tap list on their website to Beer Advocate. I looked up Sierra Nevada Bigfoot after I had it there one night in 2008. I thought Beer Advocte was great so I joined.

 

If you google almost any beer, the Beer Advocate page for that beer usually comes up before that brewery's page.
