Well, since the second thread I started got nuked, I'll try again.

Cleaned up a 100-something year old steamer trunk that's been sitting in the garage and moved it to the basement:

And now it's holding my rather meager collection of beers to cellar:

(Sad there are only two Cantillons in there!)
To celebrate I started off with perhaps the least "cellerable" beer I had, Stone's Enjoy By....

Now moving on to a Moloko or a Tart of Darkness.

    Happy Labor Day, everybody!

That's awesome! I've always wanted one of those but never could figure out what to do with it.

If I could figure out how to craft and install a hinged shelf I'd be able to fit more in there! As it is this thing's been in my wife's family for a long time, and I'm glad to have found a good use for it.

This Moloko is excellent, by the way.

From the pic it appears to have ledges on the sides, just slightly above the Firestone Walker boxes. Could you cut a piece of plywood to lay in there?

Your wife isn't related to Blackbeard, is she? That is an awesome trunk. BTW Moloko was very good, I agree.

Breaking bad ending was so good.

Having a cran-bic thanks to Rempo. I'm pretty sure he put this in a box for my wife, but it's one of my favorite beers and she'll get none of it.

Most of those old trunks had an inset kind of like a partitioned drawer. I bet it a piece of plywood would work nicely. (We have a bunch of old trunks because one of my great grandfathers worked on the railroad).

Probably used to keep heavier objects like shoes, jewelry boxes and bottles of home brew from damaging the fine linens.
