Ha! Can't win 'em all, I suppose. I'm actually drinking one right now . . . I've got a bit of writing to do, so I figured this was a better option over Waldo's Special. (Nothing against Waldo, but 11.5% ABV isn't as conducive to academic writing as I'd like it to be.) I actually enjoy the toasted, malty body of the beer, especially with the ginger undertone and the bright, lemony finish, but it's no saison in my book.

Still, you can tell by the big, creamy head, the carbonation, and the lacing that Anchor did a very good job with the yeast. It's mostly just the malt bill that's way off.

"If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium"
    Day one.
Hof ten Dormaal Blonde 8% Original Belgian Farmhouse Ale
My last one of this vintage 2013.
Still tasting great with a bit of funk on the nose.
    Great mouthfeel, too!
This brewery uses their own farm grown bittering hops and grain.
Also, they grow and produce their own rapeseed oil as the primary source of energy for boiling and cooling!
This beer tastes even better as it warms.
    Wow!

Should be, but probably not be, the closer for the night. Headed earlier tomorrow to the Rappahannock to eat my bodyweight in Rappahannock oysters. It is said oysters make you virile. I will let you know. You really do not want to know is my guess.

The waxed cap can indeed be a pain. Logsdon in Oregon uses beeswax or something and, while it's annoying, smells absolutely intoxicating.

A little comparison between two mosaic single hop beers. Founders Mosaic Promise and Fulton 300.

    [IMG][IMG]

Surprisingly similar and surprisingly different. 300 is more sticky and dank with lingering mosaic hop complexity (piney/fruity/earthy) on the back end. Mosaic Promise is a little lighter with more pronounced pine bitterness on the back end but nice floral/fruit up front. Who wins? I think it would depend on my mood - but usually 300 will be a little more what I am craving from an IPA. Both excellent!

Ah trifecta. I'm talking planetary alignment here folks. Never happened before over here and no telling when it'll happen again. I've been sipping on my 3 fave IPAs since the weekend. Drank one of each on Saturday, highly inadvisable lol.

I tried a side by side of DFH 60, 90, and 120 minute IPA... solo. Drank the full bottle of each.

I remember walking over to the couch... next thing I knew it was 4 hours later, my mouth was dry, and I had the fabric pattern of the couch pressed into my face.
