New to Ohio (2016)

I think their Kriek and Apricot are great. Not that I'm in love with the price point but I never thought the price usually $30 wasn't ridiculous for the quality you get.

 

Their Vlad and Blueberry are both fantastic. They are going to collect dust due to the price point, though.

 

I enjoyed Figaro the most. I do feel like the fruit gets a little lost in the sourness of their beers, but they are all good. I think I paid $25-$35 + shipping from Craftshack for the ones I've tried. I'd definitely like to try them again, but probably very rarely at those prices.

Exciting that we'll have access to their beers, nonetheless.

 

I would buy one of those 35 dollar De Cam beers before anything from Cascade. Pretty good beer but not a good value.

 

new to OH: Prairie-Vous Francais 4% ABV Farmhouse Ale. Retail was ~$10.

Label looks like the cover of a Tom Robbins novel.

Infact, people would probably look down on them for being Cleveland beers. People in Columbus seem to look down their noses at Cleveland and it seems like even Great Lakes doesnt have the street cred here that it used to.

 

Maybe it's because that Columbus now has plenty of local beer that is better than Great Lakes, subjectively speaking, of course.

Three Tigers soft opened today (officially opening on Monday). However, they don't have their beers yet. I was told 6-8 weeks before their stuff start flowing. It's technically a bar right now but the place is looking great, the vibe was nice, and it seemed to be running well. Great to have an alternative to Brews and Broadway in town.

 

Cascades coming to Ohio:

Manhattan N.W. A blend of spiced Blond Quads, aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels on 150 pounds of sour pie cherries for five months before additionally aging on apricot noyaux for three months.

Noyaux This one-of-a-kind NW sour is a blend of Belgian strong blondes aged in white port barrels with raspberries, then blended with select barrels of strong blondes that were aged on the toasted meat from the apricot nut, or Noyeaux. Sang Royal-- 'Malt Beverage with Cherries Added and Aged in Oak Barrels'

"Sang Royal is a big NW Style Sour Red Ale that spends over six months of lactic fermentation and aging in oak wine barrels. Cranberry This NW style sour wheat ale was barrel aged for up to 12 months with cranberries, orange peel and cinnamon. Soft aromas of cranberries and light floral notes start this beer off. Tart, dry notes of sweet cranberries with hints of wild strawberries on the palate give way to a pronounced dryness and a lingering finish of cranberries and spice.

Kriek This NW style sour red ale is blend of red ales aged in oak barrels for up to eight months, then aged on fresh Bing and sour pie cherries for an additional eight months. Aromas of rich, dark cherries, oak and slight hints of cinnamon are noticed up front. Dark, tart cherries and light spice notes dance on the palate and lead to a rich, dark, tart sparkling finish of dark cherries and oak.

 

This excites me as Licking COunty breweries r very spread out with Homestead n Buckeye Lake, having one in Granville will be a bit closer being on the west side of Newark.

 

For some reason I thought that the cap proposal was higher than 15. The number 22 seems to stand out to me. Was I wrong on that?
