    I love:
    • Good amount of head with long retention and almost no bubbles.
    • Beers whose aroma I can smell just as soon as I open the bottle.
    • Aroma of hops.
    • Amber and brown ales that are centered on sweet and toasted notes, not overly hopped for the sake of the popularity of hops.
    • Trying new beers.
    • Collecting all the labels. (Damn you Stone and all other printed-on bottles)
    • Talking about beer.
    • Scanning the shelves for long periods of time.

I love reminiscing about the time I enjoyed DBH over a Saturday morning brunch (November 29, 2014).

Kidding. I have to have a growler/4-6 pack of it before I consider it ticked.

I love that beer has been around for thousands of years and yet it has never been as good as it is right now.

    I love
    1) the aroma of fresh beer, especially the chewy malty kinds with just the right hoppy flair
    2) that my wife is ok with my (small) home brew hobby now legal here in Alabama
    3) that I can now get very good local beers here in Alabama
    4) that I can now get very good beers from out of state and other countries here in Alabama.
    5) and that they all come such a bounteous variety.

    - When the beer inventory guy asks you back into the cooler to hand you several rare bottles.

The incredible smell of Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout. Exactly like what you get if you stick your nose in a tin of dark cocoa and take a whif. Has decent taste, but nothing like the smell. If you had someone smell it blind, no way they would know it was a beer.

Although I enjoy drinking a beer that doesn't broadcast it's story, I love it when a brewer goes the extra mile for the sake of "authenticity." I realize that authenticity can be a fantasy at best, but I still appreciate the idealism, respect, and curiosity. A beer can tell a story about the ingredients that went into it and the brewing processes involved… all of which can be tied to history and culture. For example, I love it when an American brewer goes through the trouble of sourcing hops from Kent, Fuller's yeast, and floor malted Maris Otter in order to make a beer that tells a good story.

I also love going into a bar, taking a seat right by the taps or hand pumps, and having a nice attentive bartender take my order. The perfect end is when they say, "That one was on the house."

I love pilsner malt. It screams beer, and reminds me of what beer tasted like when I was a kid stealing sips behind peoples backs.
I love beer karma and sharing cans and bottles with friends. It comes back seven fold. While I have traded before, I also have not had to get crazy with the cheese whiz in order to try the beers I have longed for.
I love sticking my nose in a freshly opened bag of hops and taking a big whiff. Columbus is my favorite.
I love hitting my mash temp, and og.
I love nerding out over brewing.
I love a good nitro pour.
    I love beer.

There is way more to love about good beer than there is to hate and right now us beer drinkers in the United States are truly blessed.

    What do I love:
Proper glassware especially from some of my favorite breweries.
Belgian and Belgian inspired beers as I love the aromas and complexity of the flavors they offer
Bourbon barrel aged beers, especially imperial stouts
Imperial stouts full of dark chocolate and espresso notes
A good hoppy beer, full of hop aroma and flavor
Porters with chocolate and coffee notes
A nice cold beer on a warm (mostly hot) southern California day such as the Booming Rollers I enjoyed when I got home from work today, truly satisfying.

I love going to a bottle shop and finding a beer from a state or country I haven't ticked yet.

I really need to get one of these.

-fresh hops that smell exactly like fruit.

-huffing a super-fresh IPA and feeling an inexplicable tickle in the front of my brain (am I the only one? Good cheese does this too).

-taking a risk on a beer I know absolutely nothing about and enjoying it.

-the satisfaction of finding a well-balanced, unpretentious, thoughtfully crafted beer.

    Glassware.
    My local brewpubs.
Beer shares / tastings with old and new friends.
Trying new things and knowing there's plenty to drink when I want something I know I'll like.
When I'm with friends and someone asks me about beer in general, if I've ever tried such and such, style info, etc.
When I'm at a local bottle shop and an employee says "we have a few left of these and they're going fast. Did you want one?"

    • When my daughter gets home from Tulsa. So excited when she gets home, I always help her unpack her suitcase to see what goodies she brought me back from OK.
    • Thursdays, that is tap takeovers at my local Whole Foods
    • When a new beer/wine friendly restaurant opens up close to our house
    • When a new BYOB restaurant opens up close to our house
    • When my wife ask me before a party, do you need some more beer (and she is serious)
    • Having a nice beer just fall into my lap, daughter bringing me a Heady Topper, finding someone in Montrose CO that sells Pliny when on a business trip, having my daughter bringing me a KBS from OK as an extra
More makes me happy than pisses me off when it comes to beer. If it was the other way around, I would have to find another hobby
