"Loud Ass Dog Melee" would be a great name for a band.

But yeah, to repeat what others have said, there are no bad kids (or dogs); only bad parents (or dog owners).

Even if my German Shephard did like breweries, I don't think it is fair to other patrons to bring her with me because she despises being leashed up near other dogs (which can lead to the aforementioned loud ass dog melee) and sometimes freaks non-dog people out.

Don't think it's wrong to bring dogs to breweries as well as they're well behaved. I bring mine to comrade and some other places frequently and they love to just get attention from people and chill under the table. The people that complain about dogs in a setting like that, when well behaved, are the people that can't be trusted in this world.

I have to take offense to the idea that a pitty or husky mix need to be specified as an issue.. I 100% agree about dogs meating while leashed- absolute recipe for failure. The issue here is fundamentally a 'wrong end of the leash scenario' i.e. Shitty dog owners- has zero to do with breed.

All that being said- after one incredibly loud dog melee involving my boxer/pit mix in a public setting where I was merely trying to get my drink on, Odie stays at home. Lesson learned.

So, wait a sec. Kitty is a dog, but he's a boxer? So Kitty is a boxer, like Rocky? But Rocky is a flying squirrel with a goofy friend. But Goofy is a dog....That makes Kitty a Boxing Flying Squirrel who grew up in breweries with another dog??

You don't know anything about dogs so I wouldn't assume you know enough to feel bad for them in a hypothetical situation. My pug would like nothing more than to chill under a table (assuming it's not too hot out) surrounded by as many people that will give him attention as humanly possible. My terriers, not so much. I don't have any problem with people who would prefer to not have dogs at their drinking establishments, but your conclusion that the dogs are generally unhappy in that setting is baseless.

I didn't read through the whole thread, but if it hasn't already been said:

The drunk people I've dealt with at breweries, bars, restaurants are by far worse than any infant, toddler or dog. I do agree, though, that for everything (drunk people, aggressive pets, annoying babies) it's the small 10% who ruin it. It's no different than politics or religion!

That's disgusting. And actual his quote is "
    I like children - fried. W. C. Fields

which is even worse. I don't find cannibalism to be humorous.

Look, you can't leave your kid at home if you are going out. You can leave your dog. Kind of a big difference. And kids don't shed nearly as much.

The group that is really being left out of all of this = cats. I feel like they're being marginalized.

Oh, I see. You know everything about dogs, then. And then you also know everything about me, since you think you know which things I don't know. That's very super-powery.

Still, I didn't say "dogs are generally unhappy in that setting". I said instead of a couch or backyard, they're given a hard concrete slab .... with limited mobility. My "baseless" conclusion is supported by your terriers and the temperature.

Your baseless conclusion is supported by nothing. Your post implied that all dogs would prefer to lay on the couch or in the back yard as opposed to being around a large group of people in a brewery setting. My terriers would. My pug wouldn't. The countless dogs that strive for as much human contact as possible wouldn't. Therefore, those pups don't want your misguided pity.

There's the base. "Countless dogs" share this.

Some dogs pace around nervously, others rapid pant, some curl up facing away from people, some have either down tails or high tails, and some tug on their leash the whole time. To those dogs, the brewery isn't their favorite place.

But this still overlooks the fact that it's a brewery, not a dog park. Unless you're stopping in for one beer or filling a growler, the dog doesn't belong, mostly for the sake of brewery patrons, but also for the dog. Mine would behave fine at a brewery, but he's still not going because, primarily, he isn't human and can't drink beer.

I love when people try to say what a dog is feeling... Like they are a dog and know what dogs think/feel.

That being said, it was kinda scary when a 100 pound German Shepherd walked up to me off-leash at NB yesterday.. He was actually quite nice, but could've easily killed me.

EDIT: My mom is easily the biggest offender I know as far as people who say they know what a dog is thinking or feeling hahahaha

I think we can all agree that cannibalism is not funny, but reading this statement literally made me LOL.

Yes, if your dog is displaying those signs and you continue to put it in the same setting then you should not have a dog. I wouldn't disagree with that. Your assertion that anyone who takes their dog to a brewery is unfit to own a dog is where you misfired.

And once again, I have no problem with your opinion that breweries are no place for dogs due to respect for all patrons. I disagree, but I see both sides of the argument.

You can certainly tell if a dog is enjoying its environment. It's not very hard.

The defensiveness of dog people is often worse than dealing with dogs at a brewery. Sheesh

I find it funny that the most contentious issue on this forum is dogs and kids in taprooms.

Does anybody have or know somebody with allergy issues because of the presence of dogs and/or kids? Just curious.

I can see how this can sound harsh. Dog owners require more responsibility than many currently illustrate, and that includes how the dogs affect their surroundings.
