So, a hoppy pilsner combined with a similar hoppy pilsner. I'm sure it'll be good and all, but why the big hype and limited release?

Because it's unfiltered. If you love lagers and haven't tried a proper fresh Zwickel, you don't know what you're missing. Plus, these are clearly two of the best two Pilsner recipes in the county. Pivo wins almost ever Pilsner category it enters.

Because it's brewed primarily for the Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Fest. Firestone does a collab every year with one of the invited brewers. In years past they've bottled the collab. not this year...

I thought I was the only who was taken aback by the ABV. That's Maerzen-strength.

And with all the descriptions and wording around hops (and Pivo is already labeled a "hoppy" Pilsner sitting at 40 IBUs), my initial thoughts are that the ABV is increased to accommodate the additional hops, and keep the beer balanced.

This sounds like it will be more IPL than Pilsner....the hop profile is very interesting though, it just doesn't sound like it will be very Pilsner-like. I'm curious what the IBUs are on this one. I'm not saying the beer won't be good though, you don't need me to tell you the brewer's know what they're doing. Hopefully this pops up on tap somewhere around me so I can try it.

It says "unfiltered" and "naturally carbonated"...will it be pasteurized, served on CO2 draft?

Firestone and Russian River get together... and they don't make a crazy barrel aged beer?!

I've been in love with FW's Pivo Pils since first sip. I'm sure this will be amazing. Since it's a colab I'm guessing it will be available at Russian River but not for growlers?

I can't wait to get the barrels in over here in SoCal. Might not be able to wait and will have to head up to the brewery.
