BA's! Now just after 11 here in humid-but-pretty NOVA & I'm onto this:

Tasting great, as usual. Not at all happy with the pic, though. Guess I forgot to properly clean the mug after it's last use

Appearance: Nice light gold, beautiful white cap and lasting lacing.

Aroma: Pleasant floral malty hop balance that's just short of beautiful.

Taste: Malt hop balance is spot on with rich sparkling malt burnished by hop flashes. No single element dominates, the whole works with malt and hops emerging and receding in equal time. Well done.

Texture: Full on medium. I honestly wouldn't be able to pick this one out in a blind tasting against European Pilsners, it's that close to style yet on it's own it works so well the label really doesn't matter.

 

Holy smokes! What a song! She's got the voice, lyrics & a pop sensibility to boot. Thanks for sharing that one, my friend

I actually started the day at 5:20am, but I was outside at the pond. I finally got my lazy butt inside to post. Going to have some food, then the next one.

 

Good morning, all! I'm on a roll with breakfast beers lately. This Morning Glory Espresso Stout from Old Dominion (Dover, DE) is today's morning jolt. Dark chocolate, dark coffee, a little sweet, a little bitter, and some nice retro pinup-girl label art to boot. ABV is listed at 9%, but you'd never know it. What's not to like?

Kent Falls Grimm - Lightning Fields

 

First I'll say: I try my hardest to be unbiased, and I take pride in that. That said, I do feel like I'm a little biased towards this beer in multiple ways. For one, it's AB. Second, all of my college teammates have talked up Shock Top for years, and I'm finally trying it just now. I think it's meh. I much prefer their Belgian Wheat so far (and I have one more Shock Top after this). The grapefruit tastes and smells a bit flat, and over ripe. There also seems to be a bit of a "house cleaner" flavor note as well.

I had Boulevard's Grapefruit beer not long ago (Tropical Pale Ale) which makes this Shock Top look bad as well. I certainly wouldn't mind crushing a few with friends by the lake if they were buying, but outside of that, I won't be picking it up again.

 

I'd say that's a more than fair review. :-)

 

Believe it or not, I loved High School. Good friends, girls & fun times. I've been told by MANY that I'm an exception to the rule, though.
