One of the guys in the Times article said it reminded him a lot of an Altbier. If that's the case, I'm slightly more excited than my initial thought that it would be an amber.

This would be a nice development, as I freaking love Alts.
I guess I'll find out at the end of the month when I'm over there, but I sure hope the one in Oly near my brother's place is still open.

Not that it is an alt, but that it tastes like one according to one Seattle bartender. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who reads the linked articles, don't want people thinking it's something it isn't.

The use of Fuggles and Cascades sounds like a nod to an English bitter or Special bitter. People complaining of the cost vs regular Rainier need to know that it is an all-malt beer, unlike the regular Rainier and Hamm's beers.

Didn't mean to suggest I thought it was an Alt, it's just that Alt-ish works well enough to get me at least to try it. Along with doppelbocks, Altbiers are the German style that is criminally overlooked by American craft brewers.

QFC University Village of Seattle (45th street) has some on the floor now(Friday afternoon). Bottles look cool.

Picked up at 6-pack at Sam's Club in Seattle today for less than $10, before state taxes. Its chilling now for a taste later. I like the retro label on the old style 16-ounce bottle.

I bought a single bottle for $1.66 at Bottleworks. Tasted like a decent altbier and now I don't have five extra bottles and still have the nine extra bucks.

Yes, it does have Altbier character to it. Also a bit of an English Special Bitter as well. I'm GLAD I have 5 more bottles.

I want one just so I can say I did but even Total Wine Lynnwood doesn't sell singles of this that I saw.

Bottleworks does singles next time you're in the city.
