Todd and I are going to seek cover from the rain. Picked some things from the garden just before the rain started falling. Going to make tomato sauce with some peppers for the sausages later and perhaps some salsa. I think the weather is perfect for an afternoon nap!

 

Went for a good ride out to the lake. Now lunch and a beer. Cheers!

 

A quick pit stop home for a bite to eat after a medical appointment before heading back to the salt mine. Should've made it a barleywine given the events of the morning.

Happy Monday Ba's , and I see we are off to yet another slow start. No biggie though. We all know how this will turn out. There were some awesome and appropriate glassware sightings yesterday, so let's check them out in todays installment of...the Glass of the Day Awards!

GotD: This was truly a difficult decision between GotD and 2nd, but this glass said it all for basically the entire country. It's too damn hot!!! Cheers and congrats to @BeerVikingSailor for yet another wonderful glass. This Rogue Chipotle Margarita glass cooled down everyone by 10 degrees just by looking at it.
2nd: For the closest second place finish in GotD history, @goingbrokeonbeer for an amazing keg glass. I want one.
3rd: @WesMantooth may have busted out the best Oktoberfest plastic mug we will see this season!

Honorable mention goes out to @deford for a brilliant Stone rare beer section low ball tumblr.

Good afternoon, all! I have to say that Coors Banquet is starting to grow on me lately. I know there's not much substance to it, and I can't imagine what they had to do to make a light version of it. (Edit: How do you water down water?) But it does bring back lots of memories, like that time I muled about 25 cases of the stuff back to Ohio from the other side of the Continental Divide. Good times...

Oppigards Single Hop Ale

Pale ale brewed with pale malt and 20% wheat malt, and the Celeia hop. First time with this hop (as far as I know) and I am enjoying it. This beer drinks like a clean and crisp lager. Bready sweetness with lemony, spicy, herbal and floral qualities. I've had a couple different American style pale ales from this brewery and they've been excellent: Thurbo Dog Double IPA and Amarillo. This is less sexy, and drinks more like a Pilsner. It's clean and well executed. These guys know their way around hops, be it big and bold citrus hop flavors in the American style or or more subtle noble hop flavors in the European style.
