Hi guys, sorry to post this kinda question here. I always wondered what "Xocoveza" mean. It sounds like some Mexican or something but not sure... it would be really appreciated if someone can teach me about this. Thanks

Im speculating, but I don't think it means anything

The XO may refer to coffee like in Patron XO Tequila
The CO might refer to cocoa and when combined to make coveza, might be a cheeky reference to the Spanish word for beer...cerveza, since there chilies in it

Or, it 5:30 AM, and I have no idea what I'm talking about:slight_smile::slight_smile:

The word "chocolate" comes from the Aztec word Xocolatl (meaning "bitter water") and refers to the mixture of cocoa and water that Aztecs used to drink. Xocoveza is a portmanteau (that is, a hybrid word made of the beginning and ending of two existing words) made up of Xocolatl and Cerveza (the Spanish word for "beer").

I don't know how to say it but I sure know how to drink it, LOL.

One of my favorite beers and I still say it wrong, ha ha.

    Cheers

I've heard it pronounced alternately, "Show-kow-vay-sza," or "Gimme one!"

I read the beer "Zo-Coe-Vae-Za" until yesterday, it's a great beer with huge cinnamon. I can't say it's better than Huna or Abraxas, but I do like Xocoveza as those beers

I think it roughly translates to "f'in delicious."

I looked up the definition of Xoco in the urban dictionary, this looks legit haha.

    Xoco

    a) To be intoxicated beyond the point of walking, seeing, and standing up. Used only in the past tense. Pronounced "Sho-ko".

    b) To be intoxicated in a similar manner as a small blond girl from California.
