3 impossible for me. These are my favorite styles!

    Belgian:

    All the dark ales.
    Triple
    Strong pale ale

    German:

    Hefe
    Marzen
    Weizenbock
    Dopplebock
    Helles

Subject to change as I find and try more styles (and more examples of those I've already had)... But if I had to pick my current favorites from each, and can't pick more than three or just say "pretty much all of them"...

Belgian: Strong Pale Ale, Dubbel, Lambic (...though I haven't actually tried a "plain" lambic or gueuze yet... I have had a couple fruit ones that were very nice)

    German:
    Kolsch, Doppelbock, Oktoberfest

"Almost made it" styles that I'd probably add on if I could list five of each rather than just three: Saison (decided against it mainly due to not having had an actual Belgian example of the style, only those from local breweries in my own state), Flanders Oud Bruin (I've only had one so far so it could be that I just really like that specific beer, more so than the style as a whole), Schwarzbier, Helles.

Why only 3? We're always limited in these threads... at least it's not two beers for the rest of your life...

So damn hard to narrow it to just 3/ea. as I enjoy so many of the styles from these two countries and like others have said, this list may sway from month to month for me but here we go:
    Belgium:
    Belgian Dark Strong Ale
    Tripel
    Belgian Pale

    German:
    Weizenbock
    Marzen
    Kolsch

I could never limit myself solely to this list either.....at least without a fight/fuss.
    Cheers!

anybody do a poll results yet? I'm definitely reading "saison" and "pilsener" a lot ... like seeing some of those "Flanders red". Here's mine:

    Belgian
    1. dubbel
    2. saison
    3. quad

    German
    1. pilsener
    2. schwarzbier
    3. gose

I agree. I very badly wanted to put Belgian IPA, quad, Belgian strong dark ale, Berliner weisse, and Munich Helles Lager as well.

Because if I didn't impose some sort of limitation, then we would just say 'all of them'.
I had to make it a challenge. I agree that I could never limit it to two, either. Haha.
