Minnesota "NE style" IPA's

Grizzly's in Plymouth is tapping a keg of Disgruntled Stupid Good today (they will also have some killer stouts, but that's not this thread is for).

 

Just traded one of my bottles of DDH Sue and regular Sue for some Trilliums, I'd imagine you'd have to add more to get TH, but it seems like Trillium is a bit easier to get.

 

Drinking one right now, and I would concur. Soft, juicy, fruity and a big nose.

 

Minnesota NE Style You ask? well its Stupid Good. Perfection in an IPA take a look..

 

Where is that on tap?

FYI to those looking to try Fulton's Grog - it's no longer available in the taproom. Beertender informed me that they are brewing a new lower ABV batch but wasn't exactly sure when it was going to be ready. She did say they've been sampling it...so?

 

I agree, Hip Hops is a NE version of Todd, they brew some of the best NE IPAs in the state IMO. Don't slouch on their sours either. Forager is the real deal.

Forager's stouts has been what got me excited. Forager and Disgruntled has been two of the best additions to the MN beer brewing scene in recent years.

 

The hops are the most important part of this style of beer. I have found many of them to be good and not great.

 

Tried Lupulin Batch 100 and thought it was a nice attempt. Not quite as good as Disgruntled or Forager's efforts, but worth trying.

 

Having Disgruntled Reaper at Grizzlys right now. While I really enjoyed Fulton Grog and appreciate their attempt at the NE style, this Reaper nails it. From the aroma to the hazy appearance to the flavor. Very impressed by Disgruntled.

 

I had one last night an loved it. It had a strong citrus/grapefruit flavor. Really good.

 

If you guys like Stoopid Good you need to try Damn Good!

 

How does Disgruntled do crowlers/growlers? Are they always available?

I don't want to drive up there and come back empty handed.

 

They aren't always available but there were a good amount of Lingerer cans left from the last release when I was there. Also quite a few of Damn Good when I got there a little after 3. I didn't see anyone else buy one the hour I was there so they are probably still available. You could always call or message them on FB and ask if they could put some on the side for you.

 

Two questions. First, does Disgruntled do crowlers of Stupid Good and Damn Good often? If so any estimates on how often? Really would love to get my hands of some of these, but wondering if I'll have to trade for them.

Second, is Grog really kicked at Fulton? It's still being listed on their website even since it was mentioned that it kicked on Friday.
