Apparently I haven't been keeping up with my OH beers, not sure I knew about these. Stout brewed with cane juice in collaboration with J. Wakefield with coconut and coffee. The coffee did come out more as it warmed, still pretty subtle. The cane juice was an interesting twist, not as sweet as I would have expected. Thanks @VaTechPhilly!
Think my son is asleep, hope to pop my blind soon. Some great bottles already. Mine is waxed. And from WA. Hmmmmmmmm?!
Happy #VBS Newbies. Cracked this beer from @chadb . #VBS bottle told me to pour it into included glass. That paired with a glimpse of a Funky Buddah cap and I knew the brewery. Poured pretty thick with a nice head. Loads of coffee in the nose and some chocolate. Taste was loads of coffee. Super smooth and some light vanilla. Not Barrel aged. After doing some research at Funky Buddha beers my guess was I'm so Excited, I'm so Scared. Thanks a ton @chadb . Such a good beer. So smooth.
Smell is grassy. Almost like flowers. Taste is similar. Some funk. Low carb but not flat. The cap and cork were a dead giveaway but I've never had any Loons so I don't know which one it is.
blind vbs from @jschott75 at first open, the whiff gave it away: not a stout/ipa. ..750mL bottle format internal rolodex got whirring... of what could be potentially from MI geographic area... at the pour, dark/black... highly likely a sour stout -- but could only think of Tart of Darkness -- also unfortunately fiddled with the cap and saw writing on under the cap saying it was Terreux ... i resigned to my easy guess as ToD... ..so was half right -- cuz i didnt know tis even existed (society release perhaps?) hahaha Dope! Tart of Darkness with Cherries & Vanilla! thx man! super tasty - not much vanilla, and classic Bruery tartness ... seems i was foiled, as well. cheers, Newbies! #appropriateglassware
Appropriate that I got to use my new yopener on this bottle. Looked and smelled like a BW at first. No guesses though. As it warmed, it moved to the Belgian arena for sure. But couldn't place it. Wine barrel went well with the style. Fairly boozy but tasted nice. Cheers Newbies and Thanks @droopy1202
I've been lurking on here for a bit myself, hoping to get a couple more trades in and get in on one of the PIF/BIFs. Trying to work on my wants list but haven't seen the 'Beer in general' option, @Houser does have a heck of a list!
We welcome lurking. 2 boxes heading out to a couple idiots in here tomorrow. Need to put the finishing touches on them. When in doubt, I'll just add extra Mystic Mama.
Sorry forgot to post this here Saturday. Enjoyed this fantastic beer, I guessed abyss but couldn't nail the variant. Thanks @OEB! This was definitely my favorite abyss to date.
Brandy and Scotch are both great IMO ^^ I had them on draft so bottle may vary some but I'd recommend.
