Sunday Sales..No point in waiting??

I live a couple blocks from Surdyk's, so I walked over this afternoon to check it out. With how busy it was and with news media covering them, I'm sure they'll more than make up whatever the fine happens to be in sales and free publicity.

He's a total ass. Anyone that was around when he jacked the price up on Darkness and then openly mocked beer geeks knows this. If you weren't here for that, an easy thing to remember: he's an ass.

He also was a vocal opponent to Sunday sales, and is now using it as a marketing opportunity.

He should be a politician.

 

What's the over-under on the suspension the state/city will put on Surdyk's license? I'm thinking the state goes with a week, and decides to show a sense of humor by making it a seven day week.

I hope he gets his license suspended, guy's a dick and I haven't shopped there in years.

 

Perfect case to see what will happen when a liquor law is blatantly ignored. The publicity he got is the trade off......

 

This would have been interesting if some shop in the hood tried this stunt. I bet SWAT would have been called in to shut it down.

When a businessman talks about how he wants to do his portion to help increase tax revenue to the state, you pretty much can smell the BS before he finishes his sentence. A man of the people who doesn't flinch to jack up prices on Darkness just to make a few extra bucks.

A quick google, shows he got the headlines he wanted. He is no longer a rich guy that inherited a store, but an everyday joe sticking it to the man.

 

What are his chances of being open next Sunday. I am sure the city is going to really going to make an example of him as well they should.
He had his chance to impress us and obviously failed.

Me too, mostly because it would be interesting to watch. Unless Surdyk's is completely stupid, they had to have at least thought out the legal ramifications & potential arguments for being open Sunday, & I'd love to hear that play out. Either that or they're both greedy & stupid (& we've already verified the former).

 

Boy, you people hold a grudge! Criminitly, let it go already!

 

Just a thought:

Since the city of Minneapolis is up in arms about this, the city should refuse to take the taxes that were collected on Sunday, so as to not taint themselves with illegal money.

We know that there's a better chance of a snowball lasting in hell than that happening.

 

You make it sound like it was just the Darkness gouging. This guy is consistently a sleaze ball.

But, in that court case it looks like it was MGM that was sleazy.

 

Anyone a lawyer? It seems like a good civil argument that he took away sales from nearby stores that were in compliance with the law.
